Dealing with soreness (lifting)

it seems every time I lift my legs I get sore for a couple days, and sometimes have to skip leg day. I assumed it was because im out of shape, as I didn’t get sore frequently when I was younger and working out. does anybody have any tips for how to reduce muscle soreness @thebest or anybody else.

hopefully the soreness goes away shortly, and I workout without problems

How often do you lift? Which muscle group hurts?

I’m only sore if I take years off and start to lift again.

Edit: whoops you said legs my bad, which part of the leg specifically?

I just started lifting again. the plan is to work legs Monday Wednesday and Friday and upper body Tuesday Thursday and Saturday. right now my quads are really sore, and also my butt, and my hamstrings are a little tender from the hamstring curls yesterday. maybe it’s just because im getting back into it again. I started a few months ago and was having the same issue, it had been a good 8 years since I had been in the gym, then I decided I want a runner’s physique, and now I have changed my mind and decided I will lift for muscle and strength and try to be somewhat lean. so you think it will go away after awhile? and should I still lift tomorrow if im sore?

Since you just started lifting the pain will eventually go away. If your knees start to hurt then you should lay off of it for a couple of days.
