I get along with the older woman next to me on the first floor apartment. She’s cool and nice and is always giving me free packaged food she doesn’t want or cans of food she doesn’t want. I always say hi to her.
I think she wanted to be friends but I’m just content being a good neighbor.
But I got on the wrong side of the jerk upstairs. There’s a little conflict but neither of us are innocent, we both contributed. The last tenants are two young woman who live upstairs. In 8 months I’ve seen them a total of less than ten times ever. I said hi once a few months ago to one of them when I was emptying my trash and she was walking to her car. She was friendly.
But just last month they sounded like they were trying to irritate me in a type of schizophrenic way unknown to anybody but me, lol. So I was a little rude (very little). I didn’t think it was a huge deal because I’ve always been friendly before But now I sense the atmosphere and I think the upstairs jerk probably said something derogatory about me to them. This is what I sense.
I’ll be happy to be good neighbors with them if that’s what they want. But I am kind of preparing for if they don’t want to be friendly.
I’m in a nice situation with being lucky to not have to live downtown San Jose anymore with street people, homeless, other board & care people, drunk college kids and gangbangers. I wanted to get along with all my neighbors. I’m easy to get along with but I do deserve a little respect.
