Covid Shmovid

I’m thinking people have had it up to their ears by now with Covid 19.

I’m seeing many more people outside…increased traffic on the roads. I think you can only cage us for so long until we say ‘screw it’ and get on with our lives.

I believe this virus will be with us for years to come, so I’m one who agrees we should all just be getting back to normal…opening up businesses…getting on with our lives once again.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 deaths in the US has surpassed 80,000…and counting…

80,000 out of 100’s of millions of people.

Still pretty low percentage.

It will be my luck to get it when everything opens up. I’m already paranoid to get out as it is.

I dunno…are we all supposed to live like turtles in our shells for the next 10 years? This virus isn’t going anywhere.

So, only a few thousand more people will die in the next couple months. Totally worth not being bored. :unamused:

I think we should stay quarantined as long as possible. It won’t last years, SARS, Swine Flu, MERS, none of those lasted years. We’ll have a vaccine soon. I don’t think it’s responsible to sacrifice thousands of lives just so we can go eat out or go to the gym.

That’s just me though.

10 years is a huge overestimation. Every other pandemic has ended within a year or so.

I’m going to agree with @agent101g I don’t think it will last 10 years but I did believe it will be a good while. I live with elderly ppl so I wouldn’t want to catch the virus so I’m staying quarantined.

I also agrees with @agent101g

Okay…I just read pandemics typically last from 12 to 36 months.

That could still be 3 friggin years of isolation. Are you kidding me??

Or go to work. Or feed your family. Or pay your mortgage, rent, auto loan, credit cards, utilities, etc.

I read in bbc news that in the UK there was a huge increase in deaths in April but NOT just due to covid. I think BECAUSE of the quarantine many more people are dying too. Don’t quote me on that its just a gut feeling.

But yea Idk generally what to think about this. Like the net pros and cons. Like the stress of the economy could that kill many people too? Idk.

My selfish thoughts are that I want to get into a hair treatment salon in June.

I do feel for those suffering with covid. And who are dying from covid don’t get me wrong.

I am sure the government has a solution otherwise they wouldn’t keep the lockdown.

I do have to add it is admirable the lengths the government have gone to, to try and protect the vulnerable portion of the population…

Stress doesn’t kill people. Maybe panick attacks from anxiety but they can be treated with meds.
People can still exercise and be healthy at home.

I just don’t think it is realistic to isolate people for years. Eventually there will be a blow back…anger…protests…or worse…etc.

I meant mainly the long term economical consequences of the quarantine. Stress from that. Kills people indirectly. Maybe. I’m not sure.
But I do think that Stress is a huge killer. Just imo

Too much stress I mean.

People who can’t afford to feed their families may resort to looting or violence.

If we all stayed in doors permanently we could cut the death toll to near zero and we wouldn’t have to worry about future pandemics. Maximum lives saved.

If that doesn’t sound reasonable, then you have to accept that some people will have to risk death in order to live. The distasteful question is how many should this be? Where should the line be drawn?

Stay indoors for possibly up to 3 years? You think this is realistic?
