Oh joy.
Its seems peoples cats and dogs are catching the illness too. This is not the first time I have heard this, I heard about a dog getting infected.
@anon98459728 yes it is crazy and scary that both humans and animals are dying
Seems like the world as we know it will never be the same again, this is becoming an epidemic
Maybe all the globe trotters with travel lust need to stop traveling at least for awhile. INot traveling won’t affect me at all. I am already a homebody.
I can’t understand people who want to travel at a time like this, really selfish of them. I think all companies should start to stop making their employees travel. My brothers company did that
World Wide Travelban till the virus is contained.
Most would already have paid for the trip before the outbreak. It’s not selfish. The death rate is low, and traveling to most countries is just as safe as not traveling.
You all need to stop freaking out.
I think it is a pretty natural reaction to be worried about 1 in 30 people dying that catch the illness. I dont think that is a mental illness thing either. Best to be prepared than not at all.
Those numbers are not correct. When the numbers are adjusted for unrecorded cases and delays, it’s between 0.5% and 2% of those who show symptoms. Some apparently don’t show symptoms, making the actual fatality rate most likely even lower.
Also, for relatively healthy or young people, the risk is much lower still. If you’re not old or very sick, there’s little reason to fear for your life. And there’s absolutely no reason to talk about global travel bans. Wait and see how it develops and what health officials say. If they tell you not to stop traveling and not to stock up on food, then don’t. For example, hoarding food when the official recommendation is not to would be selfish. Traveling to safe areas isn’t.
The figure given by the world health organisation about 4 days ago is 3.4%. That’s 1 in 30 people.
Post a link. The last figures I saw in that range were unadjusted ones, i.e. exaggerated. Read the link I just posted. It’s less than a day old, the source is reliable, and it explains why there are different numbers out there.
The recorded cases mortality rate is 6%.
Again, that is not adjusted. Lots of milder cases are not detected. Also, people who are already ill are more at risk of being infected, inflating the mortality rate initially.
Yeah I know but I am saying the number is already adjusted. It is a pretty sensible idea to start taking precautions.
Then give a source, read the numbers I posted, and explain why this expert on the subject is completely wrong and your numbers are the more correct ones. Right now you’re just saying things.
Also, don’t start taking precautions without checking what the recommendations are first. Hoarding food, medical equipment or medicine can lead to a shortage, and make this crisis a lot worse for everyone. There’s already a shortage on masks.
This is a fact check website on the report:
And here is a live count of recorded cases:
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
From your source:
“Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 (the disease spread by the virus) cases have died”
The numbers are not adjusted. They are not numbers on the actual mortality rate, and can be misleading when you think they are.
You didn’t check the second website, they are adjusted. 6% is the recorded cases figure.
