Convince me that there is a God I want to believe

My Understanding about God:
God is a truth which you cannot proof with a logic or a mathematical equation. I highly doubt if He cares about all the discussions people usually have on His existence.
We are human so we think of God as a being who is just like you and me. He is beyond our imaginations. If you can imagine Him then He is not God. I haven’t seen him but I believe that He is far beyond than what we describe him. He does not care whether you pray to Him or not. He does not care if you Believe in Him or not. But he does care the way you treat His creation.

Can you clarify something , do you want to believe in God , would your life be better off. Most people who dont believe in god , id venture , hold those views for specific reasons which are broad in nature. Eg they’d have some knowledge in philosophy , psychology , biology ,evolutionary biology, physics , chemistry , astronomy , sociology , history , bio chemistry. Also why dont you currently believe in god?

“God is a concept
by which we measure
our pain.” ------- John Lennon

The truth is that no one can prove that there is a God - some believe, some dont.
I believe in nature, there is proof of this. Love - there is proof of this - Natural Beauty - The good that people possess - these can be proven. To me God is not in human form - no long white beard - no Heaven - no Hell
I think that as humans, we create our own Heaven and Hell. I do however believe in a divine energy, a force bigger than ourselves - call it love or nature or spirit - its all the same to me

I don’t believe in the Christian God, but I do believe in a universal force, a law. I am a practicing Buddhist because I have seen proof in my life that it works. We chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo which means devotion to the mystic law of cause and effect through sound vibration. If you would like to learn more about it I would suggest reading the Buddha in Your Mirror. I believe though that there are many paths to god and no one group can claim it. I have found that to believe in a “higher power” has gotten me through hard times. Having faith has given my life meaning and my struggles meaning. It’s your choice to believe or not, but consider what could it hurt. Find a faith that fits you. Buddhism works for me and has been a saving grace for a lot of people I know. Christianity also works for a lot of people. If you seek, you will find. :sunny:

It gets better eventually. You’ve just got to make it through the 24 hours you’re in. Hoping that you’re going to meetings and have a sponsor?

Over 22 years clean and sober here, one day at a time, with thanks to the Steps, my group, my sponsor, and my Higher Power.

I believe in the Absolute, the Ultimate, the Eternal, the All-Knowing, and its creative and destructive power is in perfect balance and is Beautiful. For that reason I believe it is impossible for it to be constrained in human form, since by definition, humans have none of those qualities. I also believe in its ultimate Wisdom and Compassion. One of the most convincing arguments for its existence, to me, is our ability to see beauty. Die-hard evolutionists would have us believe that our ability to see beauty has some evolutionary function. So then, why are deserts so beautiful? And stormy seas? And volcanoes? And roaring lions?

The Gospel of Thomas says - God is there before you, if you have eyes to see.

Lack of evidence in my life. I prefer the mysticism of a universe without God. I feel no spirit. I’ve been thinking about it pretty heavily lately and wanted to hear what you all thought. It’s easy to give God credit for all the good things if that’s what you do. God is a gear in the hope machine. Perhaps I’m hard wired not to believe. Every belief system has its flaws. Including atheism which closes its eyes to God.

twang ill say it again LOL I kind of understand it George Harrison oh my lord I really wanna see you I really wanna talk to youoh lord. I however cannot believe in the little man in the sky its ok. give me a different perpetive on life
really enjoy it as much as possible.

I wholeheartedly believe the Triune God of the Bible. I couldn’t explain to you my lifetime of searching and then losing and then finally finding the One who holds me and will not let me go, here in this little space…my book talks more about it then I can here. The Bible says “those who seek Me will find Me, if they search for Me with their whole heart.” Pursue Him…and keep the eyes of your heart open.

Seek and ye shall find

You’ll get a good feeling that makes you all cozy and accepted and secure. God is a tool.

But maybe there is a real God. I think he has faith in us also. To sort ourselves out and transcend evil. Religious or not.

Well the closest I came to believing in God was after listening to this REALLY educated scientist who said that the more educated he became, the more he believed in God, because the more ingenious he could see that nature is.

I kind of second that. Perhaps the universe was designed. I however dont think that humanity was hand crafted. Unless the creator were able to see the ends of his creation at the same time that he designed it.

Spiritual blindness is one of the most common afflictions in the world today, it should be a mental illness imo lol

Do you believe in hell?

That’s entirely fine. I think many of us base our beliefs on personal experience.

I have had so much occur in my life related to God that it’s actually impossible for me to not believe. He’s everywhere I go and in everything I do. So I suppose I believe in him for the exact opposite of the reason you don’t believe in him.

I do not believe that God has anything to do with the things that happen on Earth. We choose our own paths before coming here so that we may learn and gain experience as individuals and he is there to support and guide us on our journey.

My beliefs are sort of unconventional, and I’ve picked them up over my life time rather than following one belief system. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that either, some need structure and community in their spirituality.)
