Who here has been admitted to the psych hospital and looked forward to coffee and snack breaks? Every time I go in, when I need to, I always find comfort in snacks and coffee breaks. The last place I went to always had good food.
My favorite was the chunks of cheese in the packets and also the hot chocolate…I miss that time. especially just before bed time snacks
We had cheese blocks with pepperoni. Yum! We had hot chocolate too. Oh my fave was getting two slices of pizza with chicken strips and a chocolate milk.
you got pizza strips as a snack??
nope not us…it was chrisps or chips as you call them in USA, toast, and comidments for the toast
and drinks
Oh no the pizza was a lunch or dinner thing. But we did get to have these huge ham sandwiches and fruit with our snacks. Also, if you requested two servings during meal time, they’d send two for you. I never did that, but others would get two helpings of food. There was nothing else to do but eat…lol
I was always sad at snack because the coffee was decaf. I felt it was a tease. Also I was never hungry for snack because I ate the 3 meals they gave us and I don’t usually eat 3 meals a day. I loved that about the hospital. I would love to get into the habit of eating 3 times a day. I gives me so much energy to eat like that. But I guess I’m too lazy.
I miss the chicken and crouton soup. Apart from that the food and drink was terrible in there. I was getting takeaways a lot at the time so I did not have to eat it.
The last hospital i was in had a coffee machine you could access anytime you wanted. It was decaf and not that good, though. They also had a fridge with milk and juices in it. At certain times there would be a basket of snacks at the nurses station. Little Debbie Cakes and crackers, things like that. I never got much of this stuff though. I mostly just ate the regular meals and that was it.
I like the hospital, good food and snacks, like a holiday for me
In the place where I was hospitalised the coffee was decaffeinatto.
In the VA hospitals where I go, they give you half sandwiches of either ham and mayo or beef and mayo with mustard along with a container of fruit juice for a bedtime snack. Ie., nothing to get excited about. Sometimes, they would pop popcorn for us at night. That was always exciting.
We got all sorts to choose from. My favorite was the morning glory muffins.
The coffee was atrocious. Tasted like they used rinse water to make it. I stuck with tea.
Wait, you guys actually like the hospital? Lol you guys are crazy. I wish I could think of it more like you all. I hate the hospital. I don’t care how good the food is. They have grocery stores and I can get something good from there if I so desire. I guess it’s a good thing though. Extra motivation to stay on my meds.
Poplar Springs is a madhouse but they feed you like a king! I had biscuits and gravy for the first time there and it was delicious! Too bad it’s overcrowded and scary.
Sometime the food was good sometimes it wasn’t. The coffee was good. It really seemed like they over fed us. 3 meals a day plus two snacks a day. The meals seemed big too.
I used to look forward to food time and coffee break time specially when they let me out to go to the cafe and buy a coffee.
The food was delicious in the last hospital and think it was good in the other two I was in as well.
I was usually so scared and messed up but food felt comforting but I’m usually anorexic when I first go in hospital I stop eating and drinking thinking the water is poison etc but once I start eating again I really enjoy it and look forward to those times of the day and waiting for lunch for instance.
I wasn’t the only one who waited for food longingly.
Two people at last hospital I was in ordered pizza delivery and ate pizza in the psych ward.
At the last hospital I was in we got hot milo at night but only if we asked for it.
This was a special treat we enjoyed and sometimes there would be a line up for hot milo at night.
It’s good they had art therapy, music therapy, relaxation and exercise etc at the psych ward.
They made great coffees at the hospital cafe and they were nice.
