I have taken clozapine for some time now and Im a little bit worried. I havent taken a poop in several days, is it normal or should I be worried? Normally I poop daily
Unfortunately it is caused by the Clozapine. I get constipated all the time because of it.
@Sezbot241 Thank you for your reply. At what point should I be worried? I read about the side effects and it says it can be dangerous or something
I’m on clozapine 325 I am not constipated but I eat quite lot of fiber and drink lots
They have to keep my dose low because of risk of fits
They do check my plasma levels
At what point should I be worried?
I am on Trilafon, not Clozapine, but I can sometimes go four days without a bowel movement. I take psyllium capsules twice a day too. My pnurse just recommended Miralax if it’s been three days. It works differently than a harsh laxative. I just bought it Saturday and haven’t tried it yet, but will if i have to.
I am also greatly increasing my fiber intake and increasing the quality of my diet, so that should help. Living off convenience foods certainly doesn’t help.
I take clozapine and don’t have constipation. I do drink a lot of coffee which works as a laxative.
Maybe try a cup or 2.
If you are constipated, why not take a suppository, milk of magnesia or another laxative?..
If you try a laxative or suppository and still aren’t able to have a bowel movement for a day or two.
You should be worried now. This is a potentially fatal side effect and you need to report it to your psychiatrist pronto.
I took laxatives for 20 years! because of constipation caused by meds but after I got lowered in meds with 50 % lately I have a go to the toilet once to twice each day. Now I’m in mono teraphy with 400 mgs Clopixol depot every other week only.
It’s been 3-4 days since I pooped last time. Should I be worried?
I also take clozapine and i poop a lot
