Are you taking laxatives with your Clozapine?

I thought the constipation had gone away

So I stopped one of the laxatives

It came back this week and was very severe

Sorry to be talking about ■■■■, but I need to know if I’ll be on laxatives for a long while?

Started Clozapine in January

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Thank you

I had severe constipation a couple of days ago. It really hurt when I was taking a dump. I’m afraid of going to the toilette.

I started taking laxatives today. This:

Hopefully it will help!

I’m on zyprexa and vraylar!

I have those I think, but I am avoiding to taking them

Been on Senna every night, and restarted the Docusate yesterday

It’s pretty unpleasant

Feel the same way as you

Sometimes I am avoiding eating meals

I have both constipation and hemorrhoids. It feels like shitting bricks.

Is your current medical regimen helping you? Besides the constipation I mean?

Not really. I was told this week that I have to wait a longer time period for the Clozapine to work fully…

idk, it’s already been nearly 6 months

Yes, i take Movicol every day to prevent constipation. It’s just one of those things i’m afraid. I backed off taking my aperient for a couple of days, and i started getting the symptoms of constipation again, so i’m now taking it back at my usual dose.

Have you tried Cogentin? It could be EPS.

Don’t think I have had this before

I’m on clozapine and take milk of magnesia once a week to get things moving…if I don’t take it I’m lucky if I crap every 6-7 days.

i had severe chronic constipation due to gymnema Sylvestre intake its a herb for weight loss. i tried two drugs (Lubiprostone and prucalopride)
the last one caused me a heart pain.they are potent drugs for chronic constipation. but consult your doctor first before taking them.

@Joker are you still at your job? How is it going?

I had constipation since I was 39 years old. I didn’t start antipsychotics until age 43.

Yea some how I am still doing the job. Get frustrated at times, but the good far outweighs the negatives about it

I have learned a lot, and still more to go.

This job has given me access to open source software that my old data job never let the workers use

The difference is stark… People I am working with are nice which helps a lot

Also used to remote working now, as I got that as an adjustment

I’ve been on clozapine 325 for fifteen years not really suffered much with constipation but I eat lots of fruits and fibre and drink plenty. In case I get constipation I take lactulose. I was a bit bunged up the other day

shelly you are just as brave as my mother who also has got constipation because of the Zyprexa 35 mgs she takes.

Don’t get what you mean

I had a lot of problems with clozapine but not constipation

Seroquel makes me severely constipated. I’ve ended up in the ER a few times, because I couldn’t “go” for 7 or 8 days straight.

Anyway, I take Miralax every day. It’s a powder that I mix into water. Works great for me! But if I forget to take it for a few days, I’m screwed. So, I have reminders on my phone.

I’ve been on Seroquel for over a year, I think. I will likely need to keep taking Miralax for the foreseeable future.

I’m talking about that I’ve had severe constipation for 16 years until recently. I was brave because you can die if you go to long. The time.it was at its worst I was on 300 mgs Clopixol depot weekly, 600 mg Antabus twice weekly 240 mg Geodon and 20 mgs Clopixol pills by mouth.
