Changing to geodon

Due to problems I have been having lately, my pdoc is taking me off of abilify and putting me on geodon. To anyone who has been on geodon how do you like it?

My personal exp. was that Abilify arapiprasole and Seroquel quetiapine worked waaaaaaay better than either Geodon ziprazidone or Risperdal risperidone, but the main problem for me was over-dosage back in those days.

I did enough research to find out that there are some docs (more often psychopharmacologists as opposed to GPs) out there who understand that the so-called “therapeutic threshold dose” may be way too low… or way too high. They’ll work with you on adjusting the dosage so that you get the intended “noise reduction” with a minimum of feeling like you’re swimming in an atmosphere that feels like Karo syrup.

That said, these meds (along with similar Zyprexa olanzepine and Latuda lurasidone) have slightly different mechanisms of action – as well as risky sfx profiles – which makes custom-tailoring possible in many cases.

I was in 240 mg for 10 years but stoppet takeing it one week ago because i prefere injections. I Can only say that it was a lifesaver.

It keeps me king of the pumpkin patch. Don’t take it unless you want people to expect you to get a PhD and have a social life and be very muscular.

I got switched to Geodon and with in a week I was falling apart. I ended back on Latuda with Seroquel and that has helped me keep going.

Geodon was my favorite drug. I did well on it, but stopped it because of side effects.

I take 140 mgs. I take it all three hours before bedtime with food because it puts me to sleep. Quieted the noise in my mind, keeps me functional. Too bad it makes me fall asleep. I need a good 10-12 hours to sleep it off. I could never hold down a job while taking this as I couldn’t get up in the morning.

Its a good medicine for symptoms though, just be sure to leave yourself time to sleep.

For me, Geodon has been a great medicine. Geodon and Seroquel have kept me stable for over ten years. I was on Abilify for a short while, and it did some good things for me, but it got me a little too amped up. They had to take me off it.
