Can't get to sleep lately. - The insomnia thread

Too much stuff going on I guess. The things I need to do swirl in my head when I lay down.

Really need to get to sleep within an hour or two as I need to get up for looking at houses…

Any other insomniacs out there tonight? And if so, is there anything in particular keeping you up?

I’ve been laying in bed for 2 hours, no sleep. Probably cause i’m thinking and stressing about handing out resumes tomorrow.

I just ordered some melatonin. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t.

I’m up late but mostly because I’m waiting for my check to hit my account so I can submit a Walmart order.

Take care guys.

I had terrible insomnia before going in the hospital but now 30 mg of temazepam helps me sleep. I also used to listen to music when i went to bed but it was too stimulating, so now i go to bed with no sounds playing. I had the worst insomnia when i was coming off Zyprexa, so bad that i started hallucinating doctors talking thru the walls.

For years I have had insomnia but it has definitely gotten worse these last three years.

I am hoping it is a result of my depot and since I am quitting this it may help.

My depot is getting replaced by oral olanzapine. I have read anecdotes that this med can sedate things.

If so this would be welcome.

In the meantime gonna need to remove coffee from the house. It is too tempting. I am keeping my tea

Anyway this post is kinda rambling but any tips to deal with insomnia would be welcome

Warm milk w/honey or sugar and cinnamon and reading until you feel tired. Sometimes the simple solutions work.

Sometimes exercise helps me. I get hyper vigilant, but it sticks around so long I don’t notice. After some intense physical activity, my body finally relaxes.

I’m the complete opposite. Exercise winds me up and increases my body temperature. I can’t exercise two hours before bed or else I’ll be up for a while.

As for the thread I can’t help much. I’m on a sleeping med, a melatonin supplement and my antipsychotic and it’s still hard to fall asleep. The downside is that once I am asleep I’ll sleep for like 10 to 12 hours.

My sleep schedule is horrible at the moment.

I really feel for you guys with insomnia. In my mid 30’s I had bad insomnia and it lasted years. I was exhausted.

Lately, I’ve had bouts with insomnia. My sleeping schedule is all over the place. At the moment my sleep hours are nocturnal. I’ve tried to go back to waking in the morning and sleeping at night, it is just difficult to get to sleeping at night for me.

My sleep schedule has flipped to a degree since getting on zyprexa. I’ve been sleeping better, but can’t seem to fall asleep till early morning.

My sleep is a little better after cutting back on caffeine pills.

I still go to sleep late and wake up early.

I have had insomnia for 11 years. Zyprexa pooped out on me. At the same time it has been impossible to quit it, because then the insomnia gets unbearable.

I switched to original zyprexa a couple of years ago, this has improved sleep to a extent, but still struggling.

Currently I’m using low dose gabapentin to help out with sleep, which helps some.

I also take supplements like melatonin and magnesium.

I will inquire about other sleep meds though, because I’m having a hard time. Maybe lyreca, and a AD amitriptyline.

I seriously cannot believe this. I fell asleep at midnight and woke up wide awake at 2:30am. It’s now 6:45am and I’m still wide awake. I feel sickly like I feel when I don’t get enough sleep. I only hope this isn’t a start to a manic episode. This is how they usually start. No sleep.
