I had terrible insomnia before going in the hospital but now 30 mg of temazepam helps me sleep. I also used to listen to music when i went to bed but it was too stimulating, so now i go to bed with no sounds playing. I had the worst insomnia when i was coming off Zyprexa, so bad that i started hallucinating doctors talking thru the walls.
Sometimes exercise helps me. I get hyper vigilant, but it sticks around so long I don’t notice. After some intense physical activity, my body finally relaxes.
I’m the complete opposite. Exercise winds me up and increases my body temperature. I can’t exercise two hours before bed or else I’ll be up for a while.
As for the thread I can’t help much. I’m on a sleeping med, a melatonin supplement and my antipsychotic and it’s still hard to fall asleep. The downside is that once I am asleep I’ll sleep for like 10 to 12 hours.
Lately, I’ve had bouts with insomnia. My sleeping schedule is all over the place. At the moment my sleep hours are nocturnal. I’ve tried to go back to waking in the morning and sleeping at night, it is just difficult to get to sleeping at night for me.
I have had insomnia for 11 years. Zyprexa pooped out on me. At the same time it has been impossible to quit it, because then the insomnia gets unbearable.
I switched to original zyprexa a couple of years ago, this has improved sleep to a extent, but still struggling.
Currently I’m using low dose gabapentin to help out with sleep, which helps some.
I also take supplements like melatonin and magnesium.
I will inquire about other sleep meds though, because I’m having a hard time. Maybe lyreca, and a AD amitriptyline.
I seriously cannot believe this. I fell asleep at midnight and woke up wide awake at 2:30am. It’s now 6:45am and I’m still wide awake. I feel sickly like I feel when I don’t get enough sleep. I only hope this isn’t a start to a manic episode. This is how they usually start. No sleep.
