Can't get to sleep lately. - The insomnia thread

I have massive problems with insomnia. It’s become common place with me to spend the entire night fiddling around on the computer or laying in bed without getting the dreaded shut-eye.

I don’t know how to beat it. Sometimes I will fall asleep and stay in Dreamland until 5 pm the day after. It’s annoying! :upside_down_face:

Everything I read about olanzapine tells me that olanzapine might help insomnia in the short run while you’re taking it, but it greatly worsens insomnia in the long run when you try to go off of it. To the point where some people can never go off of it. @el_Jimbobbio

I am sorry you all have this to deal with

Had this myself for a long time

Taking a hot shower about 90 minutes before bedtime will help you sleep. The hot shower will raise your core body temperature, but after you’re done showering your core body temperature will fall. This mimics your natural circadian rhythm.

I’ve not been sleeping well for several months now . The initial insomnia monster thought it was time to make an appearance again. i went to bed at 23.10, which is early for me, got nice and cosy - and then the high pitch buzzing noise started. After 50 minutes I got up. I now feel wide awake.

day late to the thread but i will outright speak from an angle of solidarity regarding insomnia. i feel like it’s brain overactivity for me whether it be something resembling mania or depression (more often, depression) but i sincerely feel like i’m going to have to rely on sleep aid medication to be able to rest and it not be broken or brief.

i’d grieve more about this but i’ve had trouble sleeping since i was VERY young. my mom’s like that too…

I had sleeping issues on Vraylar. It might have been insomnia, but I would get up a lot and eat in the middle of the night and then go back to bed. It felt like sleep walking. I also had bad dreams. I’m on Zyprexa now and I sleep much better…probably too much.

Have any of you tried melatonin ? It’s a natural supplement. In the USA you can get it over the counter but here in UK it requires a prescription. It’s worked wonders for me.

seconded, it’s done a lot for me. i just wish i didn’t have to rely on it.

My sleep schedule has gone to ■■■■ on zyprexa. I hardly stayed up late and did maybe a couple all nighters on perphenazine. I don’t feel bad cause I put a lot of the blame on the med. But I gotta get this worked out anyways.

Coming off my depot and sleep has become a precious commodity.

I think it will be two weeks until olanzapine so I just got to suck it up

I’m still awake and it’s nearly 3am. I have to be up no later than 6:30am for work.
