I have been alone past 15 years after my divorce court in Atlanta. Actually it was more like a divorce hearing and I never went to the real divorce court, but I escaped from Atlanta to Miami and elsewhere in America. A lawyer told that they would send me the divorce court papers /judgement, but I have never received any in the past 15 years. Now I am on another side of the world and in some official database it has been recorded that I still have an American spouse. This is craziness.
This sounds more like a legal question than a relationship issue. Unless Georgia (the state) law says otherwise, once the marriage is dissolved, you are free to remarry. You might have to be served these papers first, though. I am not a lawyer, but that is how most US states work. If you want to remarry someone in Finland, I’d do my due diligence and check with you Foreign Relations/Department of State/whatever to make sure you’re in the clear to remarry.
Actually I was only talking about finding a woman, not remarrying anybody, actually it was a responsibility of my former US spouse’s lawyer to mail me these divorce court papers, but amusingly he must have not been able to find me when I lived in my auto in America. There are many differences in domestic relations laws depending on a state.
