Kiss to cheek and goodbye

It is almost 20 years ago when my former US spouse left, she gave me a kiss to cheek in the morning before she left and later during the day she left a voicemail message telling that she is not going to come back. This was after over seven years of our marriage. People have strange habits.

All this sounds quite funny. Her leaving did not really come as a surprise because she had told me that she would divorce me a couple of times earlier in 1996 and 1999, the next time we saw was at the divorce hearing and after that at her lawyer’s office and after that I drove to Miami and so I went to my new life. They told that they would send the divorce papers to one address in Europe that I gave them. Almost 20 years has passed and I have not seen these papers they promised to mail me. It all just sounds so funny.

You’ve had an interesting life.

Maybe you’re still married ? :astonished:

do women make all the decisions? Not sure where the law falls.

A couple of years ago I checked one official database / registry and there I was still married, but I do not know really. Who knows?

Phil got full custody of his 3 boys after divorce, it still shocks me, even today,

plus he had just gotten outta prison.

why don’t you want to talk to me. ah! no big deal.

I have nothing that comes to my mind. What could I say?

I didn’t need to respond at all. As @Ninjastar says, better left unsaid.

@anon57786250, @Pikasaur, @Ooorgle thanks for your postings. Our relationship lasted close to 10 years and we were married over seven years. Our marriage was very real. We travelled in the world and lived in one house in Atlanta, but then a divorce came. Yes, they, my former US spouse’s lawyer promised to mail the divorce docs to one address in Europe, but I have never received these. I think he is dead already because he was an older man as was the judge in this case. Many people are dead whom I knew in America. The years have just passed.

I’ve lived moments like that and came out the other side. I feel for you as any relationship that ends really does suck even if your the one who leaves like I did.

I got my ex to get the papers done for official. Took me like 7 years but it was eventually filed. I still talk to my ex. Cheap phone calls and I still like to keep in touch with my step daughter. There’s never any easy answers but you seem at peace…Do you miss that married life?

I think that our marriage was good until the year 1999. We travelled in many places such as Mexico, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Canada, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, France, Spain, Andorra, Portugal, the UK and in many other places and visited many US states and larger cities such as Miami, New York City, New Orleans, Chicago, Washington DC and many other places in the US. But then somehow 1999 changed everything and I suppose she wanted a divorce. I am not quite happy how it all ended. Do I miss that married life? Not really any longer, I have lived alone since 2000 and I am quite happy with that. Sometimes I miss my life when I travelled in the world and saw different nations and other places. It was a different life then.

I think we had some good experiences during our travels such as swimming in the rainforest river while rafting in the rainforest in Costa Rica or watching lava flowing on a volcano while having white wine on the balcony of a hotel. It is nice to remember these past journeys and where I have been in my old life. It was different then.
