So my current record player is dying, and all I have to play records on is my backup, a cheap briefcase style one with crappy built in speakers . Makes me not even want to play my records.
I’m looking for a good quality turntable, no built in speakers, would want to purchase a pair of wired bookshelf speakers to connect to it. For the turntable itself I’d like to keep it around $150 if possible, but I might be willing to spend around $200, I’ll see about that.
I’ll most likely settle for a nice pair of bookshelf speakers. In an ideal world I would get some high quality floor speakers, as well as a ten-band equalizer or something like that, besides getting a high quality turntable. If I got the setup I really want I might spend $700+, but I can’t afford to blow that much money on it.
I want to start with just a good quality turntable that will hold up over time, as well as the bookshelf speakers i mentioned. Maybe in the future I could pick up an equalizer, then eventually upgrade the speakers.
I looked up Technic record players on Amazon. Holy crap! I paid about that much for my first car lol. I had no idea a record player could be so expensive.
I could do the audio technica, though. Thanks for the recommendation!
We have some old Philcos, but those wouldn’t be good recommendations for your modern needs. We have one we bought a couple of years ago that requires separate speakers, but it’s downstairs and I’m too lazy to go check the brand rn.
I have a audio technica that I paid about 150 dollars for. I’m very happy with it. The only downside is that it doesen’t have weightbalance control on needle, I know their more expensive models has it, but it hasn’t really been a problem. I usually buy ex or better, so I only miss the weight control on like one in fifty records. And if they don’t play well on my player I have been allowed to return them at the second hand recordshop.
