Hi all,
Soooo I just found a pair of speakers that my neighbor didn’t want anymore.
They don’t have a power supply, so I’m wondering how exactly they work-- and also if y’all have any tips as how to get these bad boys up and running .
Pics for reference:
Thanks in advance!

you hook the speaker wires from your receiver to them

Those are the old style. If you don’t have compatible audio equipment, meaning audio equipment that is like 30 years old, then you probably can’t use them.

You need a seperate amplifier.

Sadly I can still hook those up to my system lol

Haha yep, Google says they’re like 30+ years old
Thought it’d be cool to have a retro set-up, but it’d probably be a pain to try and source an ancient receiver.
Wondering if a newer one would work for these …
calling @shutterbug he might have some ideas

Ohh nice, thanks for the diagram @Mountainman
There was just a shopping bag of cables next to the speakers so I grabbed those as well.

Thanks for the link @everhopeful
Gonna have a look around Amazon to see what they’ve got.

I can see why your neighbour no longer wants those speakers. Obsolete audio equipment as majority of speakers nowadays connect via bluetooth.

A good old receiver can bring in big bucks, they are in big demand

Yea, Bluetooth is pretty handy.
I do have a record player that I’ve been trying to get speakers for, so I’m hoping these just might do the trick.

Most record players go to the receiver, then the receiver send it to the speakers

I’ve got the Moukey amp, but I don’t think it’s powerful enough to drive these units. You’d want something better. Probably in the $200-300 range, stereo only. Would look for something that doesn’t have surround, but that does have a sub output.
Edit: Those are very collectable speakers. Hang onto them.

Sure:
Not sure if relevant, but this record player has a pre-amp in it.

My god that is 1960s to 1970s audio technology. Do you have some old records to play on your record player?
