Book Club? ...What are you Reading?

I read Farenheit 451 I think that was by Ray Bradbury? I do like that sort of stuff. Maybe after group I’ll drop by the book store and check out the scifi section. It’s on my way there and back too. Matter of fact, I think I’ll do it near the weekend so I read without worrying about what time it is. Speaking of that, it’s best I get to sleeping. Goodnight!

I recently started ANNA KARENINA by Tolstoy. I’m reading one book at a time to not diffuse my energy but I might read a magazine. I don’t know if I’ll read the whole book, it is very long!

I tried to read Bible on my own, but without an instructor it may go wrong.
So I read a book called “Limitless: Devotions for a Ridiculously Good Life”
There he say " Go Disable or GoD is able" so who is well experienced they rephase things well,
Since I have sz I make my own sense to the readings.
Currently reading " Life Without Limits"

I agree with A_B_C but didn’t want to say it because I might upset a moderator.

Yesterday finished a chapter called,
" If you cant get a miracle, become one"
Today gonna read on,
“No arms, no legs, no limits”

i finished Fahrenheit 451 today, powerful and almost prophetic. i couldnt believe it was written in the 50s and applies more than ever to today. i recommend the catcher in the rye and perfume by patrick suskind,

i recommend you dig the catcher in the rye. after reading this book you will (and i vouch) feel a voracious hunger for more books and plausibly wont even mind “long” books. its quite funny and entertaining

I am reading “the foundation trilogy” by issac asimov…after that, the first Dune book by Frank Herbert…I have my work cut out for me.

I’ve been on a John Steinbeck binge, first reading “East of Eden” and then “Grapes of Wrath”…both very good stories that kept me awake long after bedtime in order to reach the end. I also finished “The Outlander” by Stephen King but didn’t like it that much.

Bradbury was an amazing writer. His earlier stuff talked of rockets and stuff and delibrately used aged language and terms to make his point about humanity. If you get a chance his short stories are amazing and something Like “The Illustrated Man” is a great read and so far ahead of its time and so easy to read.

I read heaps pre sz. Nothing after. Took me a long time but slowly reading a bit everyday helped me get back into it. Sometimes you just have to force yourself and see if it helps. I do a chapter a day minimum but usually do two books. One fiction, one non fiction. I’ve been there.

I read history and studied Sociology where I finished in 2013, I have not read a book since.

Even then I was just scanning index pages.

My reading speed is very slow.

Some people I understand can scan pages

Pre sz I read 3 or so books a week. Now I read books over months. Just start somewhere is my suggestion but pick something that interests you. I’m reading some world war 2 history I read when younger…I find reading things I’ve read before help but I also like genre’s so I’ll read fantasy. I just downloaded the first LOTR books to reread.

It’s worthwhile to spend some time with books. These days it’s all digital for me. I download onto my Kindle paperwhite.

I finished that Art of Living book a few weeks ago. Honestly it wasn’t anything special, mpstly I read it because my sister told me to. It was kind of like philosophy for dummies but if that book exists it’s probably better. The most interesting thing about it is that much of it was from a slave who was freed because of his intelligence. The actual book itself though was mostly common sense and simple logic. I preferred reading works from Plato by far.

So @rogueone I took your advice and went out to the nearest book store right after group. Saw the scifi section and there looked to be some interesting things and a lot of Halo novels too heh and a bunch of copies of Dune in three or four different covers. I ended up going to the science section of nonfiction and getting a book with the title “The Age of AI And Our Human Future” by Henry A. Kissinger, Eric Schmidt, and Daniel Huttenlocher.

It’s a subject I find interesting and I’m hoping I’ll enjoy the book.

Reading is fun! Knowledge is power! You can do anything you put your mind to! Lol

I keep thinking okay this is it I can’t read anymore I lost it I’ll do my other arts instead so it’s okay then I pick something up and I can read again. I think I read with my imagination that I’m not really intellectual maybe clever and not wise. I’ve thought I lost it over and over for thirty years. Does that mean it’s not dependent on faith?
