Thanks for the help guys. My doc took me off Risperdal and my joints especially my knees feel so much better. It was hard for me to even walk before. I’ve been thinking about doing a push up or 2.
Exercise is a killer coping skill!
I just run for fun, for leisure & for fitness. It’s in my father’s genes which were passed down to me. I feel for you dude since I too, see how the younger generation of athletes can do what I used to be able to do which is sprint. Athletes are in their prime during their 20s and I’m almost double that now.
Gene’s jeans genes
I think my genes just had so much delusional energy. People in my family competed in some of the hardest races in the world. On the meds I think clearly and exercise just doesn’t seem as interesting.
Are you saying you competed better off of medication rather than on them?
I’ve never done a race. I am saying it is harder to compete because meds.
Yeah, I think it’s the type of medication too. I say the anti-psychotic drugs taken in injection form are great for me. I can still lift weights, do cardio as if I weren’t on medication. I’ve never done a race myself either.
I read a website called “eatthis” dot come where they give diet tips. Check it out! I recommend it, and I benefit from collecting knowledge and tips online.
Here are some ideas:
For protein:
Chicken breast and grass fed beef…fatty fishes…peanut butter…almonds…potatoes…lentils…high protein versions of food…fish…eggs…greek yogurt…avocados…walnuts…even brown rice.
Go to the website “eat this, not that”. Learn you something knew. Collect some good knowledge. Eat the crap they sell at health food stores like trader joes, like high protein pancake mix etc. Enriched or enhanced foods are not bad unless they are.
White grains and sugar----You haven’t got to cut out simple carbs, they fuel anaerobic exercise, everything athletic is anaerobic, you can eat as much fat as you want, just make sure you read the labels so its mostly unsaturated (a bit is okay) and never trans.
Also, anything you eat (fat protein or carb) eventually becomes glycogen which you can use for exercise, it just happens at a different speed for each macro.
Protein and fat fill you up. Just make sure you eat high wuality protein and high quality fat.
O3–Invest in oil products canola or butters with high omega 3 content. Maybe even fish oil which is rich in omega 3.
Vitamin C—Eat an orange a day, or other fruits like cataloupe, tomato, and broccoli. Kale too.
L-theanine helps suppress appetite. Another thing which helps is drinking plenty of water. To balance out you need electrolytes in your diet–high potassium foods: like dairy bananas cantaloupe and potatoes (sweet and white) as well as tomato products and avocados—calcium rich foods like dairy–some carbohydrate (sugar) a bit of sodium—choride-----a great recovery drink is chocolate milk.
Try and stay away from juice and just drink plenty of water.
Check out “eatthis” dot com, I read this website for diet tips.
I just started getting into strength training. It’s fun
