Ticks are probably the only thing I can say that I hate.
They’re everywhere in the country.
I have to make sure the grass is cut so the dogs don’t get them.
Even with the seresto collars they still try to get at the dogs.

My dog had a tick, probably more than once.
I hate those little creatures.

Does your dog get ticks @FatMama?

Yeah ticks are everywhere for me too. I dont think I could keep up with getting medical attention for them all. My dog gets ticks too sometimes. It’s really bad when i go camping, I get several ticks a day

Just watch around the area of the bite for a few days and if it looks like a bull’s eye circle around the bite get immediate attention.
Dogs can’t get lyme disease.

When my son was four (four years ago), he was bitten by a tick and got Rocky mountain spotted fever. It was terrible and he came close to not surviving it. I have never been THAT scared before!

Strangely, this ailment is not well received by the medical community. The first doctor told me to “stay away from the internet” as I had told him about researching symptoms. He gave us the wrong medicine saying if the test results come back positive for the “tick fever” THEN he would give us the medicine i knew we needed NOW. Knowing the doctor was an idiot by then, I took my son to childrens hospital where they immediately gave him a dose of the correct medicine. The nurse said he would not have lasted another day or two without the proper meds. SO, beware of resistance to tick borne illnesses. It’s not just this doctor from what I gather reading other people’s experiences.

I hate ticks!
They are so disgusting!

One of the reasons why I’m not getting a dog right now.

Too many ticks in our area.

I don’t want to bother with them!

If you do get a dog the Bayer seresto collars are pretty good.
My dogs will sometimes get a tick, but they die within minutes.
Alot cheaper than the pills or drops.

I’ll keep this in mind.
Thanks @nfy.

Dad and I give Ollie that liquid stuff you run the length of the dog’s back. Oliver hates it but it keeps him tick free. Good thing for an inside-outside pupper.

Yeah I always used Frontline flea and tick protection for my dogs.
The liquid stuff - once a month.

Ticks are the worst thing around here in nature . I’ve pulled 50 off me the last two years hiking.

How did you get them off of you?
Did you use tweezers? @Jonnybegood

I don’t have tweezers I just use my fingers. Usually they don’t get far in it takes a couple days. They’re 95% are the dog ticks. The big ones who don’t carry lymes disease but obviously you don’t want it in your blood stream. I only had 3-4 “bulls eye marks” from the tick bites. That’s when they’re in long enough to make a big mark. I went to the doctor got doxycycline but tested negative for lymes disease. Have got lucky. It discourages me from hiking though it sucks. They go away in July I think.

I always check but sometimes they’re crawling on you and can’t find them until they bite you. Buggers!
