Best AP in your opinion?

I haven’t tried many but I personally liked Abilify the most.

Glad to see you are wlling to take you APs now. It seems you have finally realized you are ill. There is no best AP. Everyone responds differently to different medications.

I’m currently taking 10mg of Abilify. I like it the best. I have previously used Zyprexa and Risperdal.

Stick with Abilify if you don’t have addiction issues from it like me. Its the best AP especially for negative symptoms. Its the only med that works for negative symptoms.

Doctors love to prescribe Abilify because it has a good metabolic profile.
It wasn’t for me though.

Definitely Vraylar. Too early to say anything about Caplyta. There’s more hope and promise with Caplyta. I couldn’t work or do school on Vralyar because I became resistant to it and just drank a ton of energy drinks and smoked on it. I got my negative symptoms back. Only thing about Vraylar is it kept me out of the hospital for basically 3 years while on it. I saved the government and insurance a lot of money. I was also scared and hated the mental hospital since 2015 and what they did to me. I used to love the mental hospital, wanted to stay there and live there forever. It was like a resort. Now, I hate it and never want to go back. When I was on Risperdal and Latuda, I was hospitalized like 5 times in a row in less than a month in and out there. I was so paranoid. I’ve been in inpatient over 20 times and outpatient like 30 times over a 10 year period.

I became resistant to Vraylar because I quit it a few times and it just wore off over the years. I started at 3mg or 4.5 mg and it was amazing and great. I ended up resistant and got on 9mg which is way above FDA recommened dose. They even wanted to try 12 mg!!!

Insurance only covers so much. Vraylar ended up costing my private insurance 2.4k a month…

Actually, 42mg Caplyta is way cheaper like 1.6k a month.

I was always going to the hospital because I felt safe, I was addicted, and I had crazy mood swings and severe depression and severe negative symptoms. Vraylar, mood stabilizer, and AD saved my life and saved my family and government tons of money. It also probably protected my brain from further brain damage. I might not even be here if it wasn’t for Vraylar.

Amisulpride helped me the most, followed by risperidone. But that’s just me. We are all different.

I would say Clopixol Depo. It in has kept me out of the on hospital for most of the time of 23 years and made it possible to live indepentaly for 20 years.

My favorite has been rexulti. Works very very well and I don’t get any side effects from it.

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(19)31135-3/fulltext this might help you decide which antipsychotic to take. The newest caplyta is said to be even better than pre existing antipsychotic

For me Abilify is the best.

Zyprexa is my wonder drug. Have to stay at 7.5mg so I don’t get akathisia, we tried higher doses and I can’t sit still on them.

Living alone and not having a roommate.

Hmm interesting
Unfortunately the newest drugs ain’t available in my country (Finland) I think

My doc loves to prescribe Abilify for some reason, sigh

well im only willing to take APs now because my Dr is putting me on a shot of Abilify so can’t really not comply anymore

wouldn’t know, I’ve been on the same AP for 8 years. Not because I like it but because I feel like I don’t have much of a choice at this stage in my life. I’m on 6mg paliperidone right now.
