What’s your best AP for negative and cognitive symptoms?
My psychiatrist said Abilify is the only one…but I want to believe there is more…Abilify worked for me but gave me serious psychological side effects like addictions and compulsions.
My plan now is to switch from Latuda 80mg to Riseperdal the 6th of May.
If Abilify worked for you, but had a few problems, try Rexulti which is in the same family as Abilify. To me it felt like half way between Abilify and Olanzapine, although we are all different.
My psychiatrist told me that there is a drug in the same family as Abilify but he won’t try it because it has the same side effects as Abilify according to him. Partial dopamine antagonist unlike non-Abilify meds which are full dopamine antagonists so no lumateperone either.
I just verified on Wikipedia. Yep Rexulti has the same side effects as Abilify because its a partial dopamine antagonists like Abilify. I avoid partial ones, need full antagonists.
Why do you want full antagonist
I know everyone is different but I don’t advise you to take abilify,it tmade my son so suicidal and angry all the time
It caused him sever akathsia
Sever insomnia
Loss of appetite
And other issues
It helps with negatives a lot. I felt more anxious when I started. Without it I just lay on bed and stare into a ceiling. With it I am able to talk, go for a walk, cook, play some video games and have enough attention for some video series. It helps with motivation a lot. With only risperidone I couldn’t start a conversation and my mind was empty. After being on it for 5 months it is the best decision ever. I started my new job a month ago and it is a struggle but it helps me to go through hard days
I tried antidepressants and they didn’t work for negative and cognitive symptoms, never tried antianxiety meds like Lexapro. Did you have anxiety prior to using Lexapro? Was your mind empty because of anxiety or because of negative and cognitive symptoms?
Also it says Lexapro interacts with Risperdal on Wikipedia, what dosage of each were you on?
“Escitalopram, similarly to other SSRIs, inhibits CYP2D6 and hence may increase plasma levels of a number of CYP2D6 substrates such as aripiprazole, risperidone, tramadol, codeine, etc.”
Yes I had crippling anxiety before started it. It could have been negative and cognitive effects. Although my psychiatrist put me on it, I tried quite few anti depressant medication. Even other psychiatrist knew I was on risperidone and lexapro but no one said it somehow interacted badly. All I know due to this medication I am not a walking zombie. My mother and sister said I was improving on the day I started taking it and were glad I made this decision.
It depends on how much you take!
By time the sleeping part will improve
My son never gained weight on Zyprexa
He generally never gain weight on any antipsychotic! Idk why
What can you tell about his metabolism with this info?!
Wow,that’s crazy!
I know a freind’s son who take Zyprexa,he goes to the gym and follow a diet but still gaining weight its crazy,How it screws up the Metabolism!
For me its not only the med causing weight gain but also the negative and cognitive symptoms. I rarely get out of bed, overeat and never train, no motivation.
