Depending on where you live, it might not even be enough to stay alive.

When we work our taxes are used for everything, including helping those who were never able to work.

At least we’re alive. Some people are dead inside every day.

Social security will never get me into a large house and fancy car, but it pays the rent and buys me food and I usually have a (very) little left over to save at the end of the month…I can’t complain.

It’s a code of society. Whoever gets sick we care for them. It could have been any of us. We just got the short straw in terms of brain health I guess.

I’m reading a book about Social Security called “Social Security Works, Why Social Security Isn’t Going Broke and How Expanding it Will Help Us All”. There’s a lot of history behind the Social Security program. Before Social Security existed people were in way worse shape when they couldn’t work for any of the many reasons this happens, not just disability. There was a lot of suffering and fear about the possibility of losing one’s job or resources as they aged or life happened. People think that Social Security money is running out but that’s not the way it was designed. It’s designed to stay strong so long as there is still an America standing. People on both the left and right are in favor of making Social Security stronger for everyone. In the past there have been candidates for president who said things to undermine Social Security and lost elections because the people’s need for the program is too great. We’re not running out of Social Security money, people will always need it and have it so long as the the country is here and people are working, and it’s not a handout but a necessary and dependable insurance in a world where nature has the final say in what happens in everyone’s lives.

Truueeeee. Most the people who I know that work are even more miserable than us. Yeah, they have a car… to drive to a job they hate everyday.
