I rely on SS and an inheritance. It’s just one more thing to hate myself for.
You’ve got to realize you help the world. You don’t commit crimes do you? No, you help keep the wheels turning. My family and I all support one another.
I didn’t either. I have SS and have a 2 bedroom unit that’s sort of like an inheritance.
Nobody feels bad taking it from you i bet
If there wasn’t SS, many would be homeless and society would be worse off. They invented SS to stop crime actually, if interested look at the history of SS when society was full of vagrants and misery. Fascinating history about how and why it came about. SS is a good thing.
Yea but youre sick. Sick peoples job is to bear their illness with patience, and do what they can. They set a great example for others and do a lot for society spiritually. People who are chronically sick have a great burden already, it would be unfair to expect them to do the same kind of work as everyone else.
Hard thinking is a “work”, suffering is a “work”, being cheerful and smiling even though its tough is a “work”, doing small tasks around the house is a “work”.
In all, as long as you did as much as you could, you did enough.
You earned it. You were dealt a tough hand with mental health. Be at peace with that
I or D, SS? you mean you never worked?
its why I got SSDI, when sh-it hit the fan.
my check is almost $1100 dollars a month, more now from cost of living increase.
Phil didn’t get it and said what you’re thinking,
but I paid into too.
then even on all the part time jobs I did on disabilty, for years,
I kept paying into it. went off and on that check,
and worked full time for 2 years. kept paying into it.
did that a few times, got right back on the check,
when I needed it.
No, @Daze , I worked when I could. I was a music teacher off and on all my adult life. I also played in a symphony.
I don’t recall hearing that @PinCushion wonderful.
you earned it
Look at the bright side. At least you have it. What would you be doing if you didn’t? I’ll admit though when it was my earned money I took college much more seriously.
You earned the money you get. Don’t feel like you need to justify it to anyone. Live your life and try to be happy. That’s my philosophy.
Worked since I was 12, love working… so have a hard time to relinquish and just subside to other generations, but I know I cannot do it full time anymore. So as a way to give back, I make open source software from time to time. But it is slow.
I was in the navy for four years. It was a very rough and difficult four years but I made it and now I get a pension from the VA. It’s helped with my meds and living expenses. I believe I earned it.
