At a complete loss

Things are progressing rather rapidly for me. I am in pain!! I called my psych nurse & told her what was going on & she told me she could not help me. I needed to see someone else. She does not think it has anything to do with haldol & me being yanked off 10 mg so suddenly (against my will)! I asked my guardian to take me to the hospital & was told no. They’d take me to a drs office instead. That has yet to happen. I have no idea what to do! I worry that I am going to lose function of my entire body.

Awe sorry @Swimming_fox99 that sounds awful. People tend to not listen to you bcuz of the sz part at least in my situation.

That’s what I think it is too. Nobody believes all the side effects that I deal with

As I remember it correctly, your mother was your guardian? Am I right? And she refuses to believe you have Sz? Am I right?

You need to be put back on meds! Have you tried olanzapine? It’s the med I’m currently on. The side-effects suck (weight gain) but overall it’s a good med.

Yes you are correct.

I took olanzapine earlier this year & immediately stopped being able to sleep. I gave it a good couple of months & it never got better.

The only medication I haven’t tried is clozapine & invega. My nurse thinks invega wouldn’t be right for me since risperidone gave me a ton of problems

If that’s your only option I think you should consider it.

But I think you need to get your sleep sorted out. It’s probably what’s keeping you symptomatic.

I’ve been thinking about clozapine but I’m without insurance. The blood work costs $110 a week. I don’t know if it’s something my family can afford.

What? That’s too much. Are you sure?

Which meds have you tried?

Yes that was the price on the website I order my labs on. But I’ve been on abilify, risperidone, seroquel, Geodon, olanzapine, haldol & latuda.

I’m waiting for the drug rep to show up to my clinic. He should be bringing samples of cobenfy. My nurse said she’d give me samples but he hasn’t shown up yet

And it didn’t help you sleep? How was it against your symptoms?

I was on 25 mg for sleep & I slept great. I tried to use it as my main AP & got up to 100 mg. My doctor discovered my liver enzymes were so high he thought I had hepatitis. I had to get tested for it & an unltrasound done on my liver to make sure there was no damage. I had to come off it for that reason.

That’s a low dosage. And you still had issues with your liver?

I’m sorry I wish I knew what to do? I think you need to be hospitalized and closely monitored. And also be put on meds. With a guardian in denial about your condition it’s hard.

Why don’t you have an insurance?

Yeah the original bloodwork that showed my liver issues was when I was only on 25 mg. It took a while to get the results & go over them with my doctor & in between that we were raising my dose to 100mg not knowing it was hurting my liver. I’ve had a heck of a time with AP’s. But yeah I need medication. I’m getting zero help from my psych nurse & having a guardian is hard. But I don’t have insurance because I’m unemployed. & I don’t qualify for Medicaid because I’m not on disability.

Some people qualify for Medicaid depending on their income:

It’s all state-dependent, so your mileage may vary, but it could be worth investigating further.

So I see. It’s a sucky situation to be in.

I wish I knew what to do? You need to be stabilized and be put on meds. Perhaps you can try one of the old gen meds? Typicals may be worth trying?

Yeah I’ve tried applying to Medicaid & got denied because they said I’m not on disability. In the state I live in they don’t offer Medicaid to low income individuals. You either have to be a parent, a senior citizen or on SSI or SSDI to be eligible.

Yup! Blood tests are ridiculously expensive.

Labs for my dr cost even more. If I didn’t have insurance I wouldn’t be able to get labs drawn at all

In my state you can get a letter from a dr or social worker stating you’re disabled to get on Medicaid. Have you looked into that?
