Are we really die earlier than healthy people?

are we really die earlier than healthy people ?
and all of this thanks to meds ??

It’s generally thanks to self-neglect, the death causes are usually heart-related.

I think some of it has to do with our higher risk or suicide and accidental death.

Yes. Make sure you look after your heart.

Look into lysine as a means of clearing out arterial plaque, it really works. Linus Pauling, the nobel laureate, advocated that method of getting healthy.

Without meds you would probably die 20-40 years earlier
With meds I think 5-15 years earlier?.

Yes, thats one of the perks of this illness, unless ur afraid of it, then its a downer. Not me tho, i am anxious for the great beyond.

What causes people with Sz/SzA to die younger?

Stress, no sleep, suicides, not caring about own health because more concerned about the psychotic symptoms or because of the cognitive symptoms, “natural” course of the illness that destroys the brain and end up in a state of pseudo-dementia, meds.

I have mixed emotions about it myself. Sometimes I would like to get out of this whole business, and other times I feel like I still have a lot to do before I croak.

Probably not because of only the meds.

It is alot of things that make up a bad lifestyle.

People with serious MI do this awful things to ourselves on a regular basis:

Smoking a lot of cigarettes

Drinking an often to the point of drunk

We feel bad so we eat crappy food

We feel bad so we dont/cant work or substitute exercize for what is normally paid labor

Indulge in street/illegal drugs

Indulge in Rx abuse

We dont take care of our teeth or bodies

We got lots of bad habits

unfortunately, homelessness and suicide camd also be factors of a short life span.

Like what? Seriously.

I’m hoping I can become a published writer before I die. I’d also like to see Europe again, and maybe travel around in New England.

I don’t think this applies to all mentally diseased people. It is more a question of life style than anything else. Most deaths are due to heart ailments. Tobacco and Alcohol hasten the death. Good and healthy life style with proper exercise can help immensely in prolonging the life.

probably lifestyle choices and stress play a part, maybe some meds side effects too. I don’t know at 58 i feel like i’ve seen and heard all i really need or wanted to and then some.

Speaking of dying early, I probably shouldn’t have eaten all that cheese. Fun chest pains.

Time to swear off all dairy but skim milk.

Bad diet, sedentary lifestyle, high risk for abusing drugs and alcohol. A large number of schizophrenics are cigarette smokers so they are at risk for the health problems that go along with smoking.

Theoretically, all these are fixable. You can change your diet, avoid drugs and alcohol and quit smoking or never start. But in practice, these are all hard to do. (but not impossible)

It’s due to higher risk of suicide. Also lack of exercise, bad diet and smoking leading to higher risks of cardio and cerebrovascular diseases. And due to psychiatric medications leading to increased appetite leading to obesity leading to increased incidence of type 2 diabetes and it’s related cardiovascular, peripherovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and kidney disease.

I have none of these risk factors as I am addressing each one in my lifestyle.
