Sounds about the same rate I gained weight as well. In 4-5 years I’ve gained about 30 pounds. I’m down 13 pounds in two+ months with strict calorie counting and exercising.
Like I said before the only thing I really hate about the med is how much it makes me sleep. But all APs have side effects, I’m just glad to be functional and able to attend college and live a relatively normal life.
Seroquel has generally been the best med for me. Stable during daytime, good sleep, no real weight gain with zero metabolic effects. Usual dose for me is somewhere between 200mg to 600mg depending on my other meds.
I’ve never had high blood sugar on Seroquel.
It messed up my cholesterol however when I took it with Bupropion, which resolved once I stopped the Bupropion.
I’ve been on 400 x 2 for over a decade. I never noticed much effect from it until I didn’t get it for a few days. Then I was a little more jittery than I cared to be.
Was on 100mg for couple of months, but now on 300mg. Thats my happy dose for me. Anymore than that and i would be in bed all day. Its a topup to my Paliperdone Jab. I use mine for a decent sleep and to control my anxiety, cos when anxious im more prone to intrusive thoughts and voices.
I’m on what is considered a low dose at 200 mg taken at bedtime. It helps me to sleep and also keeps my mood stable and also helps with paranoid symptoms. I like it a lot. It seemed to be the clincher in what took me from being very un well to well.
Has anyone had heart palpitations on Seroquel?Sorry to bring this thing again, but I found it very effective for me at dose of 50 mg’s (25mg morning+25 evening) along Risperdal 4 mg.I have no longer mood swings, and no need to take Zoloft any more,as it works somehow as antidepressant.I’m now free of other meds I used prn,but today I experienced some irregular heart beat.Did you have some problems with it like that,it lasted half an hour, and I don’t want to stop taking it.Help would be appreciated.
I get it too, it sucks but sometimes it only happens in the beggining of treatment. If it keeps happening regularly it might be worth checking up
My pdoc has done all the tests & tells me that in my case it isn’t dangerous, just very uncomfortable
Thanks @insidetheheartmachine,I drank a lot of coffee and was cleaning today my fridge from ice that there was a lot.I hope it won’t gave me those trouble again.
Might just be the coffee this time, happens to me too when I consume a lot. You can send me a PM if you want to talk more about Seroquel in the future
Take care @anon70049667
I used 25mg to sleep before i ever got psychotic, then 100mg as an AP, then 25mg next to haldol 1mg to sleep and stop nightmares. I slept like a baby - but couldnt wake up by day. For the rest it had the same side effecs as all the other AP. No heart palpitations for me. I noticed i very very quickly got used to it. After just…2 weeks?.. I quit and had a hard time falling asleep for a few weeks.
On Seroquel for 7yrs. Need it for secondary mood disorder/depression - Serotonin blocker. It works well. Sensitive to meds so can’t change more than 25mg every 3 days up or down. No significant side effects here, but side effects are different for everyone.
