I took seroquel,

But I’m not sure if my experience will be like yours.

I was on a very high dose and it made me like a zombie.

All I did was eat and sleep.

Gained a ton of weight.

I don’t think it’ll be like that for you being on a low dose.

Good luck with it!

I take 250mg of seroquel at night. They started me at 50mg then up’d it gradually till I’m I’m at 250mg
I think I built up a tolerance to it becUse I wake up a few times every night now
I gained 15 lbs pretty quick but I stayed in it and now have lost it
But it will make you sleepy if it’s the instant release and make you hungry
When I go to my new psychiatrist next week I’m going to see if he will up it by 50. Hope that helps.
Ps, if it’s the instant release you will need to be ready to be knocked out pretty quickly once you hit 150 mg or so. It takes About 45 mins to kick in

Thanks,I don’t know about building tolerance?Do you need more after time?

I’ve been on Serqouel, 600mg, now on 700mg for 4-5 years. I sleep about 12 hours a night. Other than that, I’m very functional and it takes away most of my symptoms. It’s classified as a “moderate” weight gain AP, which I think is correct. I’ve succesfully lost weight by calorie counting and excersizing.

It’s a good med, the only AP that’s worked for me. The sleep sucks, I wish it was better but it is what it is. My prolactin levels are super low, so that’s a plus. I do have to take cholesterol meds because it has raised my cholestrol, but all my labs look good. I’ll probably be on it for the forseeable future, tired of trying other APs. They all have their pros and cons.

What about sugar levels?

Yes I did. I don’t k ow if it’s just me or if that’s the way seroquel works but yes when I first got on it I slept all night but I haven’t here lately but I’m a real nervous person and maybe that’s why I’m waking up becuse I don’t take a nerve pill . Just seroquel
But yes I really believe I built up a tolerance to it

I’m not positive but I think it raises your sugar levels because of weight gain but I’m not positive on that

Thanks for info…

I don’t think you build a tolerance. I mean, I’ve built a bit of a tolerance as far as it being super fatiguing but it still puts me to sleep every night.

Sugar levels, mine are all fine. Like I said it raised my cholesterol but my triglycerides are fine.

I’ve been on clozapine and was a zombie.Tried little dosses with Risperdal, but it gave me nightmares.Today for first time didn’t have nightmares, and it makes me less nervous then with Risperdal alone.I can’t sleep on it,so I’ll try for a while 50mg’s a day.Thank you.

For what it’s worth, risperdal did not work for me at all, or haldol, but Seroquel did, when I was hospitalized the second time.

May I ask you have you been on high dose?

I was on 300 mg at night. They couldn’t give me more because I was gaining weight so rapidly

I was on it for several months until it made me gain weight like crazy. However I will say I slept like a baby on it. If you have trouble sleeping it should help. It took care of my hallucinations. Wish I could have stayed on it.

I’m on 500mg of Seroquel per day. I have been putting on weight, but not too too quickly. I gained 8lbs in 3 months with minimal changes in diet and activity level, and that’s including the fact that literally all of my meds cause weight gain. Works like a freaking charm.
