I’ve been taking Seroquel for about three weeks at 100mg. It seems to be helping with my symptoms at times but it seems like all I do is sleep. I am sleeping 12+ hours a night. My question is does it ever stop making you sleep so much? I like what it is doing for me, but I feel like life is passing me by while I’m sleeping all day and I don’t know how I’d be able to work in this situation.
I’m Rx’D 100mg Of Seroquel of which I pop in half and take it at night. It makes me so sleepy however I sometimes skip days because I am unable to wake up for work.
Your body will get used to it the longer you’re on it. I was on 1200mg for years.
It used to make me sleep 16 hours I think then the sleeping became less and less. I stopped taking it though because I’ve been doing good this year mostly and I need to lose weight and it’s easier to lose weight if I’m off antipsychotics.
Thanks. That’s what I wanted to hear
Seroquel kept me asleep all the time. I was walking down a hall when I turned the corner,I went unconscious the nurse caught me and called ambulance.i kept trying to pass out. As you know Seroquel one of those that good ones.treats folks just fine.
My heart didn’t…
Seroquel put me in a drugged up hazy state.
I would hallucinate these ghost like images then it would knock me out cold.
It did that to me the entire four years I was on it. If I didn’t get enough sleep I would end up sick and I needed 10 to 12 hours a night minimum.
You may adjust to it and be fine, you may never adjust to it. There’s really no way to know.
100mg of seroquel? Is that all you’re on ? I’ve only heard of doses that low being used as sleep aids.
I’m in the middle of transitioning from Geodon to Seroquel. At least that’s what I thought the plan was. I go back to the doctor tomorrow so I’ll know more soon. Everything but the mass amounts of sleep has been good. I have a nice relaxed feeling compared to Geodon and Geodon wasn’t helping much with my positive symptoms.
I have a bottle of 50mg Seroquel pills handy if I cannot sleep 8 hours straight. I take 2 pills at night and sleep 10 hours. This drug is very potent.
@BLURG Yes Quetiapine has that side effect. It makes you more sleep prone than most of other drugs. Try to sleep a little bit early (like at 9 PM instead of 11PM ) by taking the drug early, may be in the evening. Don’t take the drug in the morning because it can make you drowsy all the day. May be You can also talk with the Doc and reduce the dose.
I have been on seroquel for years at various doses. Sounds strange but doses of around 100mg I found to be more sedating than doses 300mg plus. There is some neuroscience behind this.
All I would say is that doses of 250mg plus are needed for an antipsychotic effect. Below that is just a sleeping tablet.
Everyone’s tolerance level is different and you also have to take in consideration the other meds that they currently take … but as for me … 50 knocks me out lol
Today I will be moving up to 200mg on my way to 300mg. My doctor said the same thing that @anon20613941 said. Basically lower doses can be more sedating. I’ve been setting my alarm clock for 9am but I am still waking up around 10:30 or 11am. This is better than noon to 1pm which was happening. I’ll call it progress and see what happens with the higher dose tonight.
I take Risperdal Consta 37.5 mg injections, Seroquel 200 mg by mouth at night, and Geodon 240 mg by mouth every day. All these meds make me sleep about 10-12 hours every day. Either at night, in the daytime, or both. I love sleeping a lot. But, it’s kind of hard getting everything done. Especially if you have a friend that takes up time.
Oops, I responded to this again. Sorry.
