Looking for words of wisdom. I first got glasses 6 years ago when I was 21. Just then I was just trying to get adjusted to having to wear glasses and far too concerned to try contacts. Well that was 6 years ago, I feel like I’m finally ready to take the plunge into contacts. I’ve never tried them before and my eye appointment is tomorrow. I’m so scared! I know I shouldn’t be but I’m sorta freaked out about having to touch my eye. Any words of wisdom? I’m scared I’m gonna drop all this money on contacts just for me to hate them.
But I feel like for running and horseback riding contacts would be so much more convenient. No more foggy glasses, and I could actually wear normal sun glasses!
I don’t wear contacts anymore. Too much trouble, I much prefer glasses.
But when I did wear them they would give me samples to test before I purchased. Hopefully they can do that for you too before they make you purchase any.
I first got glasses when I was in third grade. I didn’t get contacts until after high school when I was 18. Yeah, touching my eye freaked me out at first but you get used to it. I was glad I got them. Are you getting hard contacts or soft? Soft contacts are a little more comfortable to wear than hard. Yes, the benefits of contacts definitely outweigh the drawbacks. With contacts just be prepared for the nightly ritual of cleaning them, it’s not difficult but it’s a little chore you have to get used to.
I got LASIK done in 1999 and never regretted it. I got it done again a few years later. With LASIK they tell you that as you get older you will probably need reading glasses but it’s 20 years later and I can still read without reading glasses.
I tried contacts but didn’t like the hassle. Now i wear glasses with Progressive bifocal lenses and Transitions sunglasses lenses. My glasses cost about $700 for those options but i like having the no-line bifocals. I wish i could get LASIX but i can’t afford it. My sister had it done and it worked good for her.
I used to switch between glasses and contacts, regularly. A few days of glasses, a few days of contacts. I had the “dailies” kind, so I would throw out my contacts each night and put new ones in next time.
I honestly preferred contacts over glasses, I loved the freedom they gave me: no fogginess, no having to clean the lenses over and over, no bulkiness and pain if I lay my head down on my side, could wear actual sunglasses, and nothing on my face that changed my “style” or changed the overall look of my outfit. I hated that glasses were an accessory that I was forced to wear. Contacts made it possible to just style myself exactly how I felt that day.
I haven’t worn contacts in a couple of years, though, just because I can’t afford them AND my eyes have become severely dry (unrelated to contacts). The lenses get all dried up and scratchy on my eyeball. If it weren’t for that, then I’d be wearing contacts!
For me, touching my eyeball was NBD. Doesn’t bother me at all. Maybe watch some YouTube clips of helpful tips of putting contacts in? It’s really not that scary (in my opinion) but maybe a walk through video might help?
Ugh people failed to tell me that I need to come in for a separate hour long class on how to use contacts. They didn’t tell me that when I made the appointment and now I have to come back in a week
I got my contacts! I have to wear them for a week then go back in in order to actually get the prescription to buy a years worth. My vision insurance covers up to $200 a year of contacts so that will help a lot.
I use single time use contacts. Very very easy. I wear contacts for half of the time, and glasses for the other half. I have found a website where I order my contacts from, for a good price.
First putting on contacts was difficult but now it is very easy. My tip to taking contacts off is to drown your eyes with eye drops first. Like put A LOT of eye drops into your eyes. then take contacts off. The eye drops make them more flexible and soft so taking them off is very easy. Have a good mirror and light source.
