Anyone have bad experience with abilify

Has abilify worked for you? I don’t think it’s working out for me.

I’m sorry to hear that :pensive:

Several years ago I was on Abilify for about a month. I had the worst akathisia I’ve ever had. I was pretty messed up then so I don’t remember if it helped me at all. I do remember the akathisia though. How long have you been on it?

About a week and 2 days.

Thanks Smokes! So many cyber hugs! :hugs:

I’m sorry too. I’m trying to find a good med too. I’m on my second week of Invega. It’s been ok so far.

I feel some strange anxiety on it. Is that akathesia related?

That would be my guess. It was just awful for me. Very intense anxiety and akathesia for sure.

It worked fine when I first started taking it. Two weeks later the vocational counselor asked me why I was pushing back my hair with my hand every 5 or 15 seconds? I didn’t have a clue I was doing the nervous tic and I basically told my doc and he took me off it and the weird nervous habit went away.

Lol… I have the same thing. It’s a tic I can’t shake. I just didn’t know how to explain it. Thank you. Yes!

I was on it for like 5 years about. It gave me a shot at life again. But it gave me horrible insomnia so I had to take a sleeping pill. I would be knocked out for about 12 hours a day and always exhausted and needing coffee. It also felt like I couldn’t fully empty my bladder. Now I’m on vraylar for the less than a year. It feels so good to get sleep and be able to pee properly. I also don’t spend as much time in bed anymore so I have so many extra hours of being awake everyday. But abilify got rid of my positive symptoms so I was able to get a drivers license associates degree volunteer transfer and work part time using abilify. Vraylar is much better for me though.

Yeah, it’s kind of weird, I’m glad my misery helped you (joking).

Sorry. I laugh at everything.

Nah. my abilify is going decent at the moment since the docs raised it up a little.

I actually got an increase in physical strength from Abilify, but it did make me too nervous. I knew one girl who tried to commit suicide with a shotgun on Abilify. She didn’t kill herself, but she did blow off her arm. If Abilify is giving you impulses like that I would say quit it immediately.

I understand abilify is indicated in compulsive gambling.

It doesn’t bother me.

I had visual hallucinations about a week after starting it. I didn’t continue it any longer to see how well it would help the voices. I went to detox instead and eventually went back on what I was originally on.

Abilify works for me. It does leave me with a sort of jitter. However for the most part it does get rid of the voices. I don’t really like abilify but I get worried about switching meds.

I am on it for 15 days or something. Since then I wake up in the night for no reason. It must be the abilify
