Abilify 1515

Hey everyone, back again. I know I’m fairly inconsistent here these days. I low key feel bad about it.

Anyone have any experiences/opinions on Abilify? I’ve taken it in the past, but it’s been 10 years ago, so I told them I’d give it another try. Been having an uptick in positive symptoms the last few months.

I’m on Abilify since 2015. It works.

It was one of a few antipsychotics I tried. Unfortunately it made my Depression worse, so I had to go off it. From what I remember, it wasn’t too bad on my psychosis.

Abilify was the shittiest AP I tried. It made me very impulsive, taking dangerous risks in everything. Felt really stupid on it. Shopping addiction, hypersexuality, worse personality, etc On it I forgot the value of money, emptied my bank account in a few years eventhough I had a few jobs and lots of savings. Was on it for 8yrs, side effects slowly got worse with time. Never again.

“The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning that compulsive or uncontrollable urges to gamble, binge eat, shop, and have sex have been reported with the use of the antipsychotic drug aripiprazole (Abilify, Abilify Maintena, Aristada, and generics). These uncontrollable urges were reported to have stopped when the medicine was discontinued or the dose was reduced. These impulse-control problems are rare, but they may result in harm to the patient and others if not recognized.”

In my experience it did not help well with my auditory hallucinations and it made me very very restless. I could not sit down for a few minutes without having to move. It was my first antipsychotic and that’s all I remember from it.

Abilify has been a fairly positive experience for me. I don’t really notice any side effects. As far as combatting symptoms, I think it’s very helpful.

I recently added lamotrigine and it’s been good, too, for me. Abilify is very strong and activating for me, I take it in the afternoon when I wake up. (night shift worker here)

I went up to 40mg from 30mg like 6 months ago. My worst symptom I think is the voices. They are the most uncontrollable sometimes. My antipsychotics definitely reduce or even remove the hostility of the auditory hallucinations.

I find it important to not abuse substances, at all if you can. Learn my lesson! I was in the emergency room two weeks ago for just being in a dark place. I was really agitated from using too much and not taking care of myself. The voices were overwhelming me and I didn’t feel safe. I was at work and my company was very understanding fortunately. I still haven’t told my parents because I think they would freak. Lol. Anyways. have a good night y’all!
