Went from schizophrenia as my very first diagnosis then to bipolar for decades with my second psychiatrist.
With my third psychiatrist it was bipolar then it switched over to schizoaffective disorder.

With my current psychiatrist she diagnosed me with schizoaffective then changed it to bipolar disorder.

The psych hospital diagnosed me with schizoaffective twice five years ago.

Yeah I guess I’ll never know for sure because it’s based on opinion.

There is no “sure” or certainty when it comes a psychiatrists diagnosis.
Its basically guesswork and opinion.

Psychiatry is not a reliable science.

I feel bipolar fits I’m just gonna go with that on the forms for pip until they tell me their official given dx in my next appointment

Yeah I guess I’m going to go with my psychiatrists bipolar diagnosis of me.
Unless things change I’ll accept it.

Seen over 10 doctors over the years, they all have different Ideas, I don’t pay much attention to it anymore, my meds work and I won’t let them change them

i think the same although i think i have still recovered, i recently wrote an advanced statement stating my meds work well and not to change them unless absolutely necessary,

I had psychosis NOS for 5 years until I stopped meds and relapsed. Then it was changed to schizophrenia. The Dr warned me that if I stop my meds and relapse it will be changed to sz. For me it doesn’t matter, they’re the same thing and same treatment. I am even now on a lower dose of Risperdal than when I had psychosis NOS.

It was schizophrenia, then ptsd and bipolar, now it’s schizoaffective.

schizophrenia undifferentiated, paranoid schizophrenia, schizophrenia with depression, schizoaffective bipolar 1 adhd and now Im told “just schizophrenia”

I wonder if I was labeled Bipolar to deny me from SSI benefits because that is when I was re-diagnosed with a less severe mental illness.

I really wanted to believe I have bipolar so that I can work and be successful one day, but that came with challenges as no one could understand why I can’t seem to manage online college classes.

some terms are scarier than others, no offense but i am glad i am not referred as para/sz anymore i feel a bit of a relif tbh MPD is that a term? lol sounds a bit better
