Anybody here run/jog?

So I’ve decided to quit smoking again. Might jog next week, but I have weird achey doms after lifting again after 5 months. Kinda feels like a mild flu.

I’m thinking slow jog next week, maybe 2-3 mins at a time, walk 2 mins and go again/repeat for 30 mins at my local park.

Tempted to do an all out sprint at the end too, but I don’t want to start coughing. My lungs must be blackened by now.

I’m mostly doing this for fitness, but weight loss, and runners high too.

I also have no evidence but I’m pretty sure running is neuroprotective against sz and symptoms. And it will help me sleep at night.

Not gonna join any running groups locally either as I feel a bit anti social atm.

I also have no idea what 30 mins of jogging/walking is in miles/km but I will count my fitbits steps, if it’s able to track running steps too.

Its good for your fitness, its good for weight loss and for your mind… so cant go wrong.

I used to jog a lot when I boxed. Not done it in years. Its the solution to my weight loss, and its out there, totally free of charge - but I wont chase it. Silly.

Don’t hesitate it. At the beginning everyone is hyped and wanting to do a marathon but the goal is in the long run.

Jogging while on antipsychotics sounds like a nightmare. I walk though.

I been running more lately. It’s my main focus fitness wise. Trying to cut so beein doing atleast 30-1 hr a day of jogging/running.

Wishing you luck with this bro! You got it man. My lungs used to suck big time. I couldn’t even run for more than like 1 minute without being winded. Now I can jog for a while without feeling it. It’s a good feeling. You got this bro!

One thing I will add which you probably already know is that if you’re doing it for weight loss I’d say focus your energy more on meal prep. I been experimenting with this lately and doesn’t matter how many hours I jog a day I didn’t lose weight without meal prep. Even without exercising I lose weight with meal prep dude.

Yeah I just stopped them. I find lifting difficult on aps too cos of lack of motivation and lethargy.

Yeah I defo need to meal prep. I did it before with the stereotypical broccoli, rice and chicken. I spiced things up though.

I struggle to eat most days but somehow the fat just stays.

You have a decent physique by the way. Esp for someone with sz.

Thanks bro I appreciate it! Yea the rice broccoli chicken is good with some good fats and also fruit for snacks. I’m doing something like that. But I mix up some of the components for variety.

Frozen Mixed fruit
Frozen mixes veggies
Chicken burger/beans
Rice/mash potatoes

Something like that usually

Instead of switching between jog/walk you could just jog slowly. As slowly as you need to.

I do that for 20 mins.

It’s easier to increase speed later.

Used to be able to run, now it is obviously too hard to be enjoyable

You could always treadmill walk? On an incline. I used to that a lot when I was 17/18 and man it burned like hell, but sure did burn the flab.

I used to 10 years ago, before I got insomnia and things went downhill. My health is fragile now, so I settle for going walks.

I run about 40 flights of stairs to lose weight. When I was anorexic, it was 100 flights lol. But now with medicine, my energy has been shot comparatively. I still lift and run stairs when I can, though.

I recently have been taking a break but for the last few months i was jogging most mornings first thing for 30 minutes. Had to build up to that. When i first started i would be on deaths door after like 10 minutes haha. Struggling to breathe and sore bones and joints. But after a few weeks i improved dramatically. Now i can go way further and faster. I dont do the walk for a bit, run for a bit thing. I just jog at a steady pace the whole time. Make sure to stretch well beforehand. Its easy to injure yourself starting back up after being sedentary for a while.
Improves my mood and mental clarity so much on days i run.
I lost 20 kilos from doing it. From 110kilos to around 90kilos.
Good luck! :slightly_smiling_face:

I don’t have room for a treadmill. Have a walking pad that slides under my loveseat when not in use. Doesn’t incline.

If one is to run for 30-minutes to 1-hour, I would highly suggest listening to some tunes that have a good beat and high tempo while doing cardiovascular exercise. One’s favourite music to pump you up and keep you from getting bored.

Nice one man!

I was gonna get a walking pad for my apartment but realized I walk up and down the hallway. Sometimes I get 10-15k steps in a day with several thousand from the hallway.
