Antipsychotics + bad diet =

Pre diabetes! Time to get my ass in shape!!!

I developed full blown diabetes because of my old AP and for years had an A1C around 8 or 9.

I’m on a new AP and lost all that weight. My blood sugar levels have been pre-diabetic for over a year now so that is a major improvement for me.

But yeah, watch your diet and exercise and do your best to get your blood sugar levels back to normal. My diabetes is well managed, but high blood sugar can lead to all kinds of serious complications long term, and low blood sugar makes me feel absolutely awful when it happens, a short term problem that is solved by a glucose tablet or a cookie. If your blood sugar gets too low, in a worst case scenario, you can slip into a diabetic coma and die.

I reversed my diabetes by losing weight. My most recent A1C results have been 5.0 each time.

Are you still on diabetes medication @LilyoftheValley?

Good for you!

No. I was taken off both of my diabetes meds, and after that have maintained a 5.0 A1C

It’s a dull but necessary thing. I am currently being forced to behave in that matter by the group home by eating the healthier food that has managed to fall to the bottom of my snack box.

I have been steadily losing weight for a long time now. My high was 248.8 lbs and am down to 231 lbs at last weigh in. I hope that at this rate I will be down to a satisfactory weight in a couple years. I still need to exercise more though.

Edit: My A1C has also dropped nicely.

I have gone from 298 to 265 but have plateued there for 2 months. I have been exercising more but that number won’t budge cuz I keep cheating on my food intake. My doctor said I was prediabetic, too. I need to get my BMI down to 38 so that I can have knee replacement surgery. Right now my BMI is 47, down from 52 when I started losing weight. So much farther to go…

I think I weigh like 142 right now. Yesterday i finished a tub of ice cream and a jug of egg nog. Just had a donut. I hope my sweet tooth doesn’t cause diabetes.

The amounts of sweets i get thru to replace the drinking is terrible. Im surprised im not diabetic. I must eat 2 bags of sweets a day.

My diets poor so i take a multi vit + extra vitimin b complex.

The way I crave sugar I think I might be pre diabetic myself. I hope not. I’ve craved sugar all my life.

I’m having oats meals twice a day and boiled veggies twice a day. My weight 95!kg to 1.89 meters.

I think the trick here has a lot to do with what to buy at the supermarket.

They put sugar almost into anything these days, or aspartame which is even worse. Try to avoid having sugary things to all of your meals. That would help a lot. I need to adress this myself. Like having ceral which cotains sugar with milk that contains sugar is not a good thing.

How did you loose the weight wothout exercising?

Slight changes in diet, No sugary drinks and I did exercise a little by walking the dog.

I usually have something small for breakfast and then have a normal supper. I don’t usually eat lunch, occasionally I will have something though.
