Another reason to switch meds

Besides Obesity and Sexual dysfunction, I’m dealing with Gynecomastia or enlarged breasts.

It’s not that embarrassing because it’s not so bad but it’s still noticeable

Yeah I’ve discussed coming off Risperdal with my nurse/counselor and she agrees with me.

I can’t wait to see my pdoc next week

I’ve got important matters to discuss

I wish you the best of luck with your med switch.

Do you already know which AP you want to take instead?

Thanks @Jonathan2
I’ve got a couple in mind but I’ll leave it up to my doctor

Honestly although I need to switch meds it’s leaving me a bit overwhelmed

Med switches can be hard.

When I came out of the hospital the first time. My then pdoc took me of all my meds (including benzos) all at once without tapering and just gave me Invega. It was quite a shock to the system.

Yeah med switches are hard and tricky

I went nuts after my switch from Risperdal to Vraylar in 2016

I was hospitalized twice within a month for 5 weeks

I’m switching from Geodon/Seroquel to Caplyta. My doctor doesn’t want me taking more than one. It’s gonna be a fun time…

Hello @Wave, I hope you don’t mind, but I moved your post to the Medications category where it is a better fit. I am sorry to hear of your side effects as they are not pleasant. I hope your treatment team is able to change things up in a way that works for you.

My akathisia is back now that I’ve started Vraylar. I feel like I’m Fred Astaire dancing in place at my desk some days at work now. Super annoying.

I had that for like 2 months when I first started abilify ever. Then it went. It might still disappear for u after a while. It happens sometimes.

Vraylar didn’t work out for you?

I hope you have a successful switch to whichever medication your Dr thinks is best for you. I went through trying some different antipsychotic medications starting this last winter and it was hard and luckily I didn’t end up in the hospital. Anyway, I hope you have an easy time with switching and everything works well for you! @Wave

Please be carful with switching to fast cause Risperidone is a very strong antipsychotics. Don’t stop it abruptly but do tapering. I was on Geodon for 20 years and the last 17 years I had insomnia without knowing that it came from the Geodon until now 13 months after getting of Ziprasidone ( I now sleep like a baby off that Cr##).
I just quit Geodon and was nearly dead on several occasions (not advicibly at all if thers better options).
Normally tapering off meds you have taken for years is done over months not weeks by tapering a very low amount of antipsychotics.
