Am I on TV

People on tv saying i’m a psycho, overheard it this morning at local Mc Donalds. Does anyone think their life is broadcasted on tv. think people can read and see my intrusive thoughts. The American audience absolutely hates me. What should I do?

You need to tell your doctor that you’re experiencing delusions of reference.

That’s an upsetting thing to think about. I am sure that you’re not being broadcasted on tv, and that what @everhopeful is saying is what’s happening, but I understand that you probably want to make sure yourself.

Here are a couple of ways you can do that:

What channel do you think you’re being broadcasted on? Have you tried to find this channel to see?

Another way to check is that tv shows have webpages, both official and fan-made, about them. Can you find a webpage about a television show about you?

You’re not alone

I had the same delusion at one point

it’s a common delusion to believe that you are on t.v. or on the radio…I would consult with your psychiatrist and get the meds tweeked…

I wonder what goes wrong in our minds that we get these delusions. I use to get the same delusions that the broadcast is solely about me. I was angry at the people who mocked me on tv. Fortunately I have’nt had such delusions in a long time. You are not on TV. I would consult my psychiatrist like @jukebox suggested.

I have felt this way before. I currently think the media are broadcasting my thoughts to select few people who spread the information elsewhere. But it’s a ‘delusion.’ It’s not really happening.

I have had that truman show delusion before too, I didn’t know there was a name for it until coming here.

I hope you are feeling more at ease soon. It’s important to keep telling your psychiatrist about these thoughts.

The Truman Show delusion ■■■■■■ with me for a long time, before I knew it was a thing. If all our lives were TV shows though, how would people have time for anything?

you’re not on tv, but if it’s a delusion you have, you probably won’t believe me
i find it interesting how people post there delusions on here, asking if they’re real
i would never post my delusions - because they are are delusions, and no matter what anyone said to me, i would still believe they are real. that’s what a delusion is, a falsehood believed to be true. that’s what psychosis is, believing crap that isn’t true. if you saw thru’ the delusion, and understood it wasn’t real, you would no longer have a mental illness, you would be cured.

but… noone is cured.

I disagree with that, because I’m medicated and still have some of my delusions, but at the same time I can recognize that they probably aren’t true, at least some of the time. Doesn’t mean I’m cured, just that meds help and I have “insight.”

well, there are different kinds of “understanding” different levels of it
for instance, on one level, maybe an intellectual level, i can say “i have schizophrenia” and that i’m ill

but on another level, i still seem to expect myself to perform as a “normie” as someone without a severe mental illness, and get angry with myself when i fail to do that

it’s said that crazy people don’t know they are crazy
that is true and it is wrong. it’s true on one level, and false on another

if that sounds paradoxical and crazy, then maybe it is… do you expects madness to make sense

you sure like the “crazy” word…I don’t like the “crazy” word…your words smack of a cynical nature.

the word does its job

if black people can refer to each other with the n-word, then i can refer to myself as crazy

don’t tell me how i can and cannot refer to myself

I’m not too sure you are mentally ill for one…so just don’t go saying “crazy” it’s offensive to I’m sure someone on the forum besides myself…crazy is insulting.

sheez like i said do not tell me how to talk about myself

do not tell me what i can and cannot say, you’re not a moderator so shut your cake hole

aren’t you new here? I don’t recall ever seeing your name before…are you a troll? or are you really schizophrenic? I never use the word crazy. It is a word normals describe someone mentally ill. that is stigma at work.

I like to call us “schizo-friend-ics” to erase the stigma :sunny:

you’re the one trolling here
if i cannot refer to myself as crazy maybe a moderator can correct me… sheez
i’m not replying to you any longer jukebox, you’re either a troll or don’t know what you’re saying
either way, i’m not replying to you

/flagging the posts of the troll jukebox
weren’t you suspended recently troll?

Guys - let it go. Stop attacking each other. Nobody is a troll, we don’t have rules about a person using the word “crazy” though it isn’t a very accurate or helpful word really.
