About drugs and sz

Hey guys, is it true that drugs may cause sz (I’m not talking about a psychotic episode, but the long lasting condition), or if you are predisposed to sz it will occur later in life anyways?

I don’t remember too well, but I think I read somewhere that drugs may accelerate the process but not cause it?

Is there a thing like “drug induced sz”?

Thanks.

Nobody knows exactly why some people get sz and others dont when they use drugs, but it is known that using them is associated with greater incidence of having sz. Those who have sz have greater history of drug use before psychosis compared with those who dot have sz. So if 66% of szs used drugs 33% of non szs used drugs.

Drugs can contribute to SZ in some people or be “the straw that broke the camel’s back” for others. This is not certain, however. It’s one fo those “correlation is not causation” things.

I had sz before I used drugs and using drugs ie marijuana was a behavioral problem I had around the same time I was involved in delinquency

I was given drugs as a preteen. Makes you easier to molest. Then I started with weed as soon as I could on my own around thirteen when I could score some occasionally.

Thats rough, I was never sexually abused so that risk factor for mental illness didnt affect me.
