A Physics/Mathematics Thread 🧵

I got 66% in the last assignment, i was stressed that I scored badly and that’s exactly what happened :sob:

Edit: 70% is the second highest grade so if I look at it like that, I’m safe

I keep switching tabs to the forum when I’m supposed to be studying. It’s really bothering me because I haven’t been productive enough lately aside from assignments (which I’ve not been doing great on). I thought it’d be manageable because most of it is open book - how wrong this is proving to be

@MisterApple can you print the study material and read it offline? Whenever I read a book I leave my phone on a remote table. And I never turn my laptop on unless I am watching a movie. Otherwise I easily get distracted.

It’s the discipline, I have textbook version (paper copies) but my mind drifts to the forum

Part of me says I’ll focus better in the evening but i know it won’t happen

I was not good in math in school, didn’t pay attention. When doing a cognition test related to sz, I was told I had potential and was in the top 10% in math. Was kind of surprised by that. I have more appreciation for math after I started game dev, although I have to look up advanced stuff. Most of the time you can get by with - + / * in game development though, and you often have built in functions for certain calculations. I think it’s cool with those who are good at it, but I will never become good myself, probably.

Working on Complex Numbers (otherwise known as imaginary numbers)

Looked into some of the next chapters which are still on complex numbers, but it looks complicated but exciting unlike sequences/series and matrices lol

Let me know when/if you get here:

We did this at uni, I don’t remember anything except that it was pretty cool!

Looks exciting, it’s in Complex Analysis which I’ll do in year 6/7

I’m really likin the course so far. The Mathematics really is cool, so exciting haha

I hope the weather is calmer (less hot and humid) by late August so I can revise all the content. I’m super nervous about this exam - it’s the first Exam I’ve done since 2021. That’s when I was doing my economics degree

Messy but I got it correct! Both of them! Another 3 parts to do Mwhahah :fire:

(These are matrices / matrix multiplication)

Edit: In this submission, it is matrices, sequences and complex numbers with some earlier unit stuff too.

Feeling quite tired/sleepy. Was gonna try do more of my assignment but idk, it’s better to rest rn. It’s a pretty challenging assignment bc it’s mostly stuff unfamiliar to me including the questions.

I’ve spent the last eight days walking so much that I put off the assignment bc of tiredness. Tomorrow it’ll be different though, I won’t be going for a walk but instead will make more progress with this assignment.

I’ve mostly enjoyed this module, ā€œessential mathematics Iā€ but I’ve struggled with the assignments a lot more than I ever anticipated, highest mark only 82% when the goal was to score an average of 85%. My average is 67. So in terms of classifications - that’s a lower second class grade.

That’s scary because all this time I thought physics problems (which also require reasoning) would be beyond AI. That being said, this model they used isn’t available to the public yet

[Images removed] I just realised it might pop up on the software that tracks and compares my work to online content, so I got rid of the images because of this - don’t want to risk the false flag

A little number trick for recurring decimals and some matrices (networks, in this case energy suppliers and homes)

Younger brother thinks that studying maths means you think about problems in maths but that’s not quite it. You think with an improved nervous system imo, Brain network so to speak - you see more patterns for example and also links between abstracts

Crunch time soon coming. Basically the month of August will be revision of everything enough for the 17 of Sept. I believe it’s enough time to sort out chink in knowledge and understanding. Being as positive as can be.
