I admire people who can do that, but that’s not me. I do like my toys.
Thats not me either but when i had no money and nowhere to go i would have liked to be able to sleep in the vast warm areas of the university commons at night or similar instead of being forced into the snowy night.
homeless just means without a home. home, less. the reason people have a problem with it is because some people may consider their tent their home or their car. i think its all gone too far tho. ive been homeless and am not offended by the term homeless. i doubt anyone is except people in homes.
Many people just enjoy being offended for other people…when the actual people who are supposed to be offended couldn’t give a hoot.
Theres nuance that you don’t have to acknowledge. Someone will insist to call someone homeless instead of unhoused because homeless has the nuances of not having a home, not belonging anywhere, and unhoused has the nuance of a material dwelling and not being given somewhere to live
exactly and its almost always the people who arent part of whatever group they are offended for. they would tell me i cant say the word “crazy” or “insane” when saying stuff like “wow that’s crazy”. or that i cant say “schizophrenic” or “autistic”. now “homeless”. im tired of it and refuse to play the game of who can be the most bestest PC moral person.
It got really crazy for a while.
“I’m NOT schizophrenic! I’m a person with schizophrenia.”
Oh, puh-leeze!
ive had people who like me and are kind to me say im “insane” and i dont take offence because they mean it with love. things should only be an insult if they are intended to be and said with hate
I put the ‘hot’ in psychotic!
People are triggered by constraints on speech big time, but that there is a more correct way of saying or doing something doesnt mean you cant unless it becomes a rule. Its just not the most correct way.
And the ‘ass’ in psychiatric assessment!
it does not mean they dont belong anywhere. idk where u are getting that from but that is not true. there are two parts to the word. home = a house/apartment and less = without. it doesnt mean anything except that someone doenst have a place to live
no one should control speech if u ask me. u tell me i shouldnt say homeless then i can tell u u shouldnt say unhoused, then what do we do.
the correct way is not being hateful or mean no matter what word u use.
home is where a person is from and where they belong
Er…how about…
“Unhomelessly housed?”
According to you. According to me, you’ve wasted half an hour of my life on something irrelevant. (Apologies to @irrelevant for that, btw.)
i have moved 50 times. my home is where i live. if u ask where i am from i will tell u the state i spent most time in. no one who is actually homeless thinks that when someone says homeless they mean that they come from nowhere.
Housely unhomeable!
(Okay. NOW I’m getting a headache!
Allow me to subscribe to that.
I’ve always felt sz doesn’t define me, nor should it. It’s something I suffer from and fight against, not part of my personality and character.
Not letting the illness become me, ever.
Im not saying you cant. Im arguing that unhoused is more pc
