I just googled it and thats what it says in some detail. I guess its harder for schizophrenia with so much stress everyday
There’s been some studies that show that nicotine use in psychosis somehow modifies and/or improves symptoms. I can’t recall which studies they were. Smoking is almost ubiquitous among the sz community, or at least it used to be back in the 90s.
Probably plays a huge role in the fact that schizophrenics have a shorter average life span.
I actually smoked more before I got SZ. I didn’t smoke much after I was diagnosed and I quit in 2018 because cigarettes were making me throw up.
I am a failure as a schizophrenic, apparently.
I thought you made up for it in the obesity dept
I stopped smoking in 2010
I have lost just over 80 lbs in the last year and a half. I have also unprocessed my diet and I exercise daily.
That’s amazing man. Your heart is definitely thanking you. Looks like you’ll be sticking around on the forum for many more years dood.
I stopped smoking 3 years ago and gained only 15 pounds
It’s an early death sentence and other people doing it shouldn’t make you feel better about it. It’s expensive and deadly. The more insight you have the more likely you are to quit.
I’m surprised how much pro smoking stuff gets posted. Granted i’m 40 now so my view is very different than when I was 21 and had no mileage on my lungs, but i think it should scare people. It scared me until I quit.
Yes i agree entirely im all for quitting until the nicotine withdrawal kicks in ahum then becomes difficult
Yes @shutterbug thats bloody fantastic
I was only making a crude joke earlier
Yeah was a hopeless nicotine addict from 14 till 39. Loved it and curiously it was about when my symptoms started and I started smoking.
My shrink got me onto champix and didn’t even finish the course. Went from smoking butts when I was too poor to buy cigs to not even caring and it was all so easy. It’s a nasty drug. It really is. The gains you get congnitively for most are quickly lost in the fact it’s highly addicting. It’s just a dumb thing to be slowly poisoning yourself smoking but as an ex addict it’s nice to be free of it.
i quit smoking but I’m tempted to try zyn or rough
I quit in 2018 as well.
Life is better without cigarettes.
Still drink coffee though.
I was a heavy smoker.
I quit cold turkey decades ago and never looked back.
Quitting is possible
I sure don’t miss hacking up that weird crap every morning. It was so gross.
Back when I used to smoke nicotine I noticed I was calmer and heard less voices HOWEVER pot made me paranoid
I don’t recommend smoking anything it caused addiction AND CANCER I caps locked it because it’s important to know
There is a saying here we have 99% literacy and I am from the remaining 1%
