I am being put up to 120 mg latuda instead of it from 80 mg I’m in now.
I am scared.
My brain feels pressure damage etc n my jaw clenched n I can get anxiety n hysteria I think from latuda sideeffect.
Any advice or thoughts about this?
Latuda is an second generation atypical antipsychotic and is considered to be a ‘less potent’ antipsychotic that has a lower affinity to block dopamine D2 receptors (compared to many other antipsychotics). Therefore you should be less worried about serious side-effects. If you already been up to 80mg without serious adverse effects, 120mg shouldn’t cause much of a problem. You may become more restless and/or have an increased chance of akathisia, that’s it.

I’m at 160mg Latuda, which gives me akathisia. It can cause nasty generalized anxiety as well.
My only advice is to bring up the side effects and see what other options you can exhaust. Usually add-on meds like benztropine (cogentin) can help with akathesia.
I know no one wants to take an additional med, but for me, Latuda works so well I’d rather take the small 0.5mg dose of cogentin with it than completely abandon it.

The dog just told me telepathicy that I’m going to die soon.
I think latuda is activating like hysteria,anxiety,”worked up”etc
Olanzapine was more sedating and calming.
Is there a second calming medication to take to help side effects?

Did you get side effects from it?
What are you on now.
The only side effect olanzapine gave me was weight gain.
It was more calming and sedating and latuda seems more activating with clenching jaw ,hysteria,fear,anxiety,getting all worked up etc n I even had difficulties swallowing sometimes.
Is there a medication that does not cause weight gain but is more sedating like olanzapine?

My bf cuddled me like he did the other day but it has happened once in all this time.
He says he doesn’t cuddle me when I’m unwell isn’t that when you need it the most.
I only take 40 mg of Latuda but then I also take 160 mg of Geodon. Latuda put weight on me and I want to slowly come off of Geodon and ramp up the Latuda and just take that.
What is a therapeutic dose of Latuda by itself? I don’t know. My psychosis is pretty bad.
I see Latuda commercials every day but they are for Bipolar depression and not schizophrenia. Is Latuda a good drug to be on by itself?

The therapeutic dose of Latuda for schizophrenia starts at 40mg up to 160mg.
If it’s a good drug by itself, depends. When I had my last psychosis 2 years ago I had to add a very low dose of Zyprexa to fully control my positive symptoms. I’ve dropped Zyprexa a month ago and I’m stable on just 74mg Latuda. I’m pretty satisfied about Latuda the past 4 years that I’m on it.

I wish latuda worked for me. But it didn’t. I was on 180 mg and on like risperdal too.

I’ve been in contact with the psychiatry about replacing Invega with Latuda or Abilify. Hoping that changing will get me off the couch.
