Why no CBD cannibidiol reviews on the web

I’m honestly confused why I can’t find reviews of cbd longterm for psychosis/schizophrenia/hppd. Can someone explain this lack of information on this important compound to me?
I’m aware it’s quite expensive, and I’m aware that there are many companies selling fraudulent products, or products that combine other compounds in addition to cbd which change its effect. However, why no useful information other than a small 2012 40 person study?

I’m guessing there probably isn’t any or few of them. Marijuana with THC is full of contradictory articles on if it causes psychosis or not and that’s been around for a long time. CBD I do believe is still a fairly new idea and the studies being done probably center around use with seizures rather then psychosis.

Is an illegal product federally that’s why but I would try it

Check this company out: http://www.gwpharm.com/product-pipeline.aspx

Says it’s in phase 2 trials

i have a brain thing going on where my thought process is accelorated way beyond normal and cbd slows that down.

I think you’re talking about medical studies - is that what you mean?

This research area is very new - so thats once reason you don’t see any longer term studies. Secondly - long term studies are very expensive - so its very hard to get the government to fund them. Its rare to do long term studies.

And - CBD is not patentable so companies won’t fund development because they can’t charge much for the compound.

Lastly - companies are developing new drugs that do the same thing as CBD but, it is hoped, more effectively with custom molecules - and those are in development and will be tested and of course, cost a lot when and if they become available.

Right now I don’t believe that CBD is really available without THC - and you don’t want THC in the mix because that likely will make things worse for people.

Lastly - because its part of marijuana / cannabis - its still a regulated / illegal substance in most states / countries - so that is another reason why no long term studies.

So - its a complex issue.

Actually no…I was talking about anecdotal reports that I would have thought existed.
I’m finding no long term reports, which means I’m lacking the critical information.

Part of the issue is that there is not even any information on effective doses, other than the small study that you mentioned which was done in the Netherlands. I tried to get ahold of some but could only find a relatively weak CBD oil far below the effective antipsychotic dose suggested by it. Tried it anyway as a way of attenuating symptoms during an attempt to reduce my meds, but it didn’t seem to make much difference one way or another.

Actually its FDA approved and prescribed to people for a wide range of problems. Last time I checked some experts are just now getting around to testing it’s effectiveness for assistance with long term treatment of psychotic symptoms. TCH seems to have the opposite effect. I kind of wish someone told me that sooner or diagnosed me sooner and I might not have smoked the stuff for years, potentially making my problems as bad as they are today.
I know of a few people personally that have perscriptions for Marinol (that’s cbd right?) to treat symptoms for pain and cancer related problems. One person claims he gets them for his schizo, but I don’t trust him as he claims he’s got it all, schizoaffective schizophrenic schizotypal OCD bipolar. He’s lying right?

I’m in the exact same boat.

Been diagnosed 14 years, unable to tolerate atypicals and disabled with paranoid schizophrenia. This would be a godsend if it worked as reported in the double-blind European study by Piomelli in 2012.

Why are we not seeing anecdotal reports from schizophrenics in Colorado who have tried these pure high dosage CBD edibles or other deliver mechanisms?

I am not talking about clinical trials. Big Pharma has nothing to gain, and everything to lose if CBD successfully treats schizophrenia. If anything we should expect disinformation from them. What we need is ‘word of mouth’ information from people who suffer from this illness, have tried CBD, and have seen improvements or diminished symptoms. If you have tried it, and did not get relief, that information is just as valuable to us.

Please help this community with your experience. Does anyone know a friend or family member who has tried CBD to treat or manage schizophrenia? What was their experience? What was yours?

Again, we are not looking for clinical studies, this is about real people getting their lives back thanks to CBD.

@Kellie was going to try it, but I don’t know if she’s still around on the forum.

it either doesn’t work, people don’t take it consistently, the dose required is too high, it’s too expensive…that’s all I can think of

Suggests the doses needed are high.

what do you think about Rapastinel for psychosis?

I think we need to wait for more research.Hopefully there will be some.

it’s promising because sarcosine and some other antipsychotic-like drugs work in that way agonizing the nmda

do you know anything good for negative symptoms / treatment resistant depression?

Nothing that works that well for negative symptoms. I’m not really up on treatment resistant depression, but know lithium has sometimes been used with some success.
