Yes, you can, according to Dr. Nicola Wright, a clinical psychologist in The Royal’s schizophrenia program, as well as former chief of psychology and former director of training for psychology residency program.
Most people associate psychosis — hearing voices or having hallucinations — with schizophrenia. However, psychosis is also an unfortunate fact of life for many people who have severe depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder. While traditional treatments for psychosis have emphasized medication-based strategies, evidence now suggests that individuals affected by psychosis can greatly benefit from psychotherapy.
