What CBT if you mean cognitive behavioural therapy it helped show me how flawed my logic was at the time

Yeah cognitive behavioral therapy

CBT is how I function as well as I do on as few meds as I take. I am able to tolerate 24/7 positive symptoms and remain functional. It is the best bang for your buck treatment-wise.

Was it difficult to find a specialist?

Practically impossible. Learned to do it myself using books.

I think @LevelJ1 has mentioned it. I could be misremembering…

My therapist at the VA did a little CBT work with me. I think it’s a great option. There’s lots of good CBT workbooks out there if you can’t find a therapist who is certified to do it.

CBT helped me a lot with paranoia. It didn’t stop hallucinations, but did help with learning to stay calm and focused during flare-ups.

CBT has allowed me to have better insight for sure. Especially when I am coming out of psychosis. Made me realize some of my warning signs for when psychosis or deep depression is coming. And what to do about it. So helpful.

I picked up CBT for Dummies online. It helped me a great deal in the beginning. I continue to use the things I’ve learned from it.

I found cbt helps bring awareness and insight to the psychosis. It doesnt stop it but it teaches you how to manage dealing with it.

I have a cbt for psychosis book.

I had something like that in the past. Someone taking over my eyes, or my hands, or controlling my feet. Just weird stuff.

And i have no answer on how to stop it lol.

Learning more about the illness in any form whether cbt or any other methods will help get some understanding and move forward I guess. I use online for researching about the symptoms and treatment. I was trying chatgpt but could not keep up with it due to poor concentration and focus.

I understand this is not normal in society. It is from a medical condition. It still happens to me also. But my medication helps me not feel guilty for experiencing these things. Like you mentioned with CBT it is about functioning and living a fulfilling life. Purely a medical problem that I have to deal with.

Yeah i mean he is probably on medication yet its still happening. So the cbt helps in addition to deal with it

It can be reduced. Managing stress helps reduce positive symptoms. Learning stress management means you spend less time with psychosis management.

I have been going through a podcast about healing from abuse or trauma which made sense. Like it explains no matter what we use like meditation, positive affirmations, yoga, hobbies, the only way we can heal from it is if we rewire our subconscious because it may come back still those thoughts and feelings if we do not have proper approach.

So this may apply here as well. The subconscious might be trained to work in a certain way for long time. We need to change that to say what is real and what can help us and follow that.

Yes I am not always fully aware of what’s in the back of my mind. But when I realize what I was thinking it helps. It shows me my how my actions were based on my feelings. And I realize it is my feelings that I need to discipline. Then I can trust how I will react when the same situation that caused me trauma occurs again. My trauma is from psychosis as I was never abused. Nobody ever intentionally did anything to me to traumatize me. I also never had a real traumatic thing happen to me besides psychosis.
