Do you think CBT can help schizophrenia ?
I think it help maybe just anxiety and depression but if you have paranoia and voices I just wondered if CBT is any benefit
For sure. In my opinion the main cure for sz is CBT not AP’s while they help.
Honestly I am not sure if my therapist is not good or CBT does not work for me.
She taught me some breathing techniques and also some distorted thinking ways which I have but when you have racing thoughts and paranoia how are you supposed to use these techniques on yourself?!
Sleepybug
Exactly what I think
I also have a hard time applying what I’ve learned in CBT therapy when my voices are loud and rapid or if I’m extremely paranoid about something. My therapist and I have worked through concerns I have. I am particularily concerned about being controlled or watched and that isn’t really helped by CBT.
Yes the feeling being watched wrong go away because you can’t change that feeling
There is a CBT made specifically for psychosis called CBTp or something like that. It is supposedly quite helpful. However finding therapists who are trained in this is difficult.
Normal CBT I found helpful but I had to translate it on my own to apply to my psychosis. It was initially designed to treat depression and anxiety.
