Zyprexa experiences?

Just got put on Zyprexa, 20mg. Any experiences you could share are welcome.

A very good med, it helped me alot.

The only problem was weight gain that I seemed to have with it.

However, its seriously good at getting rid of symptoms.

Good LucK

I’m on 50. Some people are supposed to gain a lot of weight with it, but I haven’t so far. It’s done good by me.

Didn’t do anything for me.

Zyprexa is my miracle med. It completely controls my positive symptoms, including my disabling paranoia. Many people get tired on it, but it gives me energy, so I take it in the morning. I also haven’t gained weight on it - I am losing by sticking to 1200-1400 calories a day.

20 mg is a big dose. I take 7.5 mg. I hope it works as well for you as it does for me!

It was good for me for relaxation and sleep.

Thanks for all the responses, guys.

I tend to need high doses of antipsychotics to work so my doc usually just puts me on the highest dose right away.

I ended up falling asleep right after taking the dose, so now my sleep schedule is screwed up.

It works really well for me. I take as little as possible so I’m on 10mgs.

I slept a lot, and I craved sugar. I was mildly depressed. I gained 60 lbs. It’s better than the typicals for me, though.

It’s a great med. I gained weight on it but I could rid of that weight with a ketogenic diet.

The biggest issue is excessive sleeping. If I don’t precautions, I’ll sleep like 12 hours and won’t be able to get up even with a super loud alarm clock.

However, I used something like this to get me out of bed and it helped a lot:

I had my phone and a Bluetooth speaker in a bag. I had power cables running to both the speaker and phone. I got a Bluetooth speaker that would not turn off no matter how long there was no audio provided it was plugged in. I set my alarm on my phone and connect the speaker to my phone. I lock the bag. I put the key outside my room. When the alarm goes off, I can’t turn it off unless I get the key, which forces me to walk. I can’t hit snooze. That period during walking makes me wake up.

As low as possible for me! We are all different when it comes to meds!

I became diabetic. It went away when I stopped taking it. Several years later, I’m diabetic for good.

I’m on 2.5mg olanzapine plus 2.5mg clopixol. Gained about 5 lbs on olanzapine but am not hungrier or sedated. Btw, I test my fasting blood sugar once weekly with a meter I got in the pharmacy for 30 euro. My fasting blood sugar is usually around 4.5 which is normal. I do this to reassure myself and to have the info for when I see the pdoc.

I was on 20 mg for 3 years and today my doctor lowered me to 15 mg. The reason was because I was sleeping too much and I was losing normal motivation. It has kept me out of the hospital and prevented a relapse.

Explosive weight gain, lifelong stretch marks from it, and diabetes. Winner winner chicken dinner!
