Ziprasidone food

I understand that we have to take Ziprasidone with food (500 calories minimum). But, how much time should elapse after eating that we should take Ziprasidone? My pdoc said, take it 30 minutes after completing your meal. But, I don’t see that requirement written online, that it should be 30 minutes after eating.

Let me try to find the study from a while back. It made things clear.

I found one as a pdf that I had saved, but it looks like it isn‘t publicly available anymore, so I can’t share it without breaking piracy laws. That one compared taking the med right after eating with waiting 2 hours. The amount of medication absorbed was twice as high when it was taken right after eating.

Here is another study I found, but I haven’t read through it so I can’t say for sure what it says.

This is a dense read, I will just take it immediately after meals as I read that is the best practice.

My only concern is that it has a short half-life and currently my pdoc has prescribed once a day, in the evening. Is he doing the correct thing?

im not on it anymore but my pdoc told me to take both pills at night, but the months before that was twice a day. the half life was so short that i would get brain zaps and panic attacks a few hours after the usual time i would take it in the morning, that lasted the whole day until the time to take the single nightly dose. but often id still feel those effects until i fell asleep at night

It depends on the person. I took it only at night for a while, when I was on 40 mg. I eventually needed 80 mg, and at that dose I had an experience similar to @cigarino so my doc split it into a morning and night dose.
