Zinc removed all my negative symptoms. I’m full of energy. I’m back to inventing and soldering and making stuff. I’m doing stuff all the time. No more procrastination. No more not taking showers. Not any more this kind of stuff. No more sleeping too much or being lazy. ALL GONE. All it took is 30mg of elemental Zinc, ELEMENTAL. Not 30 mg of Zinc sulfate or Zink whatever. You’ve got to find out how much actual zinc there’s in it. Supplements that don’t list >elemental< Zinc are scam.
I must admit positive symptoms are the same (relatively unchanged). I’m still angry and sometimes paranoid, but not more than I used to be, and for that I still can take more Zyprexa, which I don’t want at the moment. That hasn’t changes. What has changed is: I have more energy and self control to manage it: more energy and resources: more self control. And I have the feeling that with the new energy and self control and resources, I can beat the schizophrenia for good soon. With the energy and resources, maybe I’m able to solve the problems in may head. I was unable to do so because I had no energy (NEGATIVE SYMPTOMS). Zinc has taken care of that.
I have moved from a person who literally did nothing throughout the day to a very active person. I started making things with my Arduino. I’ve successfully made a device that controls my digital camera and takes pictures periodically. It has a display and buttons and you can set the time. like you can set it to take a picture every 3.5 seconds. and it works. All I need is to make an enclosure for it. I also have converted an old server into a PC for using it with blender to create 3d graphics and animation (Graphic card is on it’s way). I fitted a new power supply in it and I had to actually solder a lot to get it to work and now it works (it didn’t fit anywhere else, don’t laugh, I haven’t fixed it in place yet to see if it does well with the graphic card, then I’ll fix it). And before zinc I was literally laying in bed all the time cursing. seriously. TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY.!
I’ll definitely look into it im starting on omega 3 at the moment as heard it’s low in people with schizophrenia haven’t looked at zinc as a yreaent for schizophrenia arou sti taking your medication.e y
I just feel like my old self. It might be mania, but it’s in every way better than what I was in the past 12 years. I’m happy even if it’s mania (which it’s probably not). I have energy but my MOOD is not elated. and I sleep very very well. Doesn’t sound like mania either
I just happen to take 30 mg. you don’t have to take that much ;). I take a 25 mg German stuff called Zinkorot (which contains Zinc-Orotate, best kind of zinc IMO) and my multivitamin + mineral pills happen to have 5 mg zinc in them. that makes 30. EDIT: I see your’s is also Orotate. that’s the good kind.
…The National Institutes of Health considers 40 mg of zinc a day to be the upper limit dose for adults and 4 mg of zinc a day for infants under age 6 months…But yes. It’s always advisable to share this with your doctor Mayo Clinic on Zinc (external Link)
VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE:
I’m not telling anyone to take zinc or not to take zinc or take how much zinc. let me make that clear.
I just described my experience with it. if you read my post carefully, you can see that I’m nowhere suggesting you to take or not to take anything, be it zinc or anything else and how much.
So whatever you do, DO AT YOUR OWN RISK.
If you are still using lion’s mane, it contains a lot of beneficial minerals and trace elements, including iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, selenium, and phosphorus
I tried this years ago, didn’t notice that it did anything for my negatives. My doctor also warned me away from excessive zinc supplementation, told me a daily multivitamin would give me what I need.
Laziness is usually more of a function of having developed bad habits. Not much in the way of medications or supplements that will fix that. Suggest therapy workbooks instead.
“Laziness” can be bad habits, but also might be a sign of an underlying learning disability or perfectionism gone awry. Still, therapy can help with those things.
That happens to some folks with severe anxiety. If they can’t do it perfect, they won’t even attempt it. And just the fear of possibly doing something wrong can make them freeze up and not try.
It’s important to see the underlying factors behind every maladaptive behavior, rather than just dismissing it as laziness.
I must add something here about doctors in general. It’s not really a reply to you but to everyone but it might just be beneficial. It’s my experience with German doctors in general.
(German) doctors are there to keep you alive and safe. And to some extent, keep others safe from you so you don’t hurt yourself and anyone else. If these conditions are met, then they are fine. They don’t care if you are productive or your health is optimized or you are creative or whatever. If you are alive and safe and are not doing anything “crazy” then you are fine. Being productive and really “fine” is just not their goal. It applies to any illness not just schizophrenia. They just do away the illness. If you are hallucinating and you are hostile and they stop that, it’s great success and you are healed. end of the story.
Having optimized health is the business of other people. Like Psychologists and therapists (particularly the ones NOT paid by insurance), life coaches, nutritionists, spiritual teachers (maybe), natural treatment people, sports trainers, meditation classes, yoga teachers, stuff like that.
The stuff I’m talking about falls in this category
If doctors give you Abilify or whatever. and their goal is that you don’t hear voices anymore, and you don’t, they of course see no need for any farther treatment, be it zinc or whatever else, and of course, they will view it as bulls**t. But you can refer to the studies mentioned in the original post I linked above that it’s not BS, as Zinc is almost certainly good for depression and there is some evidence that it might be good for schizophrenia (the Risperdal + Zinc study) (and may I add that almost all things good for depression could be good for negative symptoms, they very often use antidepressants for negative symptoms)
