Your thoughts on plastic surgery?

Some people get way too much plastic surgery, and they ruin their looks. Different kinds of people have different kinds of challenges. It’s not so much how you look as how you handle yourself that makes you or breaks you.

From my experience with orthodontia, I find that the forces of life tend to undo all the efforts of the doctors. My teeth always just wanted to return to the way they were. Just be yourself.

I’m not against plastic surgery if it helps boost self esteem … I had a mole removed once but I also feel major surgeries shouldn’t easily be accessible. The surgeon should fully make sure the patient is informed and understands the risks etc

It’s fine except if you overdo it.

my mom had a face lift…at first she didn’t like it but I think she’s comfortable and glad she did it now…it was about ten years ago…she looks much younger than 79!!

In general people should exercise more and get plastic surgery less, imo. Exercise makes you look younger inside and outside, whereas plastic surgery is only on the outside.

Most trans people don’t regret their surgeries. Honestly it’s just so frustrating to jump through all the hoops to even get a gender affirming surgery.

Most trans related surgeries arent considered “plastic” surgeries.

I had my breasts removed as part of my transition. I regret absolutrly nothing about my transition. But transitioning doesnt work for every trans person either, and some people dont find that out until its done.

Theres so much focus on trans regret when most of us are incredibly, incredibly happy with our medical transition.

Also, tou dont “become a trans” by getting surgery. Its called transitioning. You “become” trans when you decide that you are.

As for cosmetic plastic surgery, i dont have an opinion as its not my experience to want that kind of surgery and im not a psychological expert on these things. I have been trying to remain more neutral on things that dont effect me and i dont know about.

I’m of the opinion that people can and should do what they want, to hell with what others think.

Don’t like plastic surgery? Don’t get any.

What others do shouldn’t be the concern of others.

@anon8411913, you look beautiful just the way you are. You don’t need surgery and most likely never will.

I think that people should do what makes them happy. The only thing I would add, regarding cosmetic surgery, is to do your homework in terms of the surgical procedure and when selecting a surgeon.

I tried doing surgery on a pop bottle last week. Wanted to turn it into a bird feeder.

Harder than it looks on Youtube.

This might be one of the smartest things I’ve heard in forever. I think I’m going to try and remember that and aim for a more neutral position in things also. I’ve always been curious about this certainty I have about things, recently been realizing it’s crap and caslling bullsh!t on myself, this goes right along with that.

It took a lot of suffering and a lot of listening to others suffering for me to have that realization. Im glad it resonated with you :blue_heart:

I’m for plastic surgery I want a boob job if I’m ever able to lose my extra weight

My mom had it to fix her droopy eyelid.

Sometimes it’s necessary i think.

Also, I saw a segment on a plastic surgeon who fixes scars and disfigurement related to burns and injuries from war! She often goes to Africa for it.

My ex mrs had a breast reduction. It was crazy surgery for me but the surgeon did a good job. The result was nice breasts for sure no matter how you score them. I don’t have a problem if you can afford it. It can be pretty serious work and you need a good surgeon for some procedures. Don’t go overseas to get the cheap job if your thinking of it is all I will say.

I personally believe most people don’t need plastic surgery. Their feeling of wanting plastic surgery stems from insecurities that they get from unrealistic beauty standards. But at the same time. I try and not judge people for getting plastic surgery. It’s a personal decision, and it would hurt them if I told them they made their nose look worse for example.
