Your favorite boxer of all time?

I used to be a big boxing fan. This was pre sz. Boxing has kind of fallen out of favor compared to what it used to be, but I have never seen a thread on this before, so I thought it might be a good one.

My personal favorite during the time I was watching, was Evander Holyfield.

If you wanted to know who was the greatest of all time you just had to ask him, Muhammad Ali.

He seems to be the general consensus for the greatest heavyweight of all time among the critics as well. He was a bit before my time, but I’m not sure I wouldve liked him that much even if he wouldve been active when I was into it.

I tend to like the skilled but a little more humble boxers like Holyfield. Jones was a little cocky, but a very nice guy.

Muhammad Ali was definitely a very skilled heavyweight, though, and maybe the best ever.

Ali was asked why he trash talked other boxers and boasted so much about himself. He said it was because “It sold tickets to his matches, everybody came to see the big mouth get whupped and put in his place.” There was a method to his madness.

Rocky Balboa. I was thinking that before I saw @Andrey’s post. I have a little bit of a crush on him…not to be confused with Sylvester Stallone.

I also like Buster Douglas, he’s from my hometown. Only boxer to knockout Tyson, I believe.

Evander Holyfield was special…a real gutsy fighter who left it all in the ring when he fought.

But I agree with @77nick77. Ali is the Champ though in my book. He’d fight you anywhere, anytime…and rarely disappointed until he stayed too long in the ring.
