You don't wash chicken breasts, Phil, or liver

you think you’re so right

challenge you on that.

Lol, you can wash your chicken if you want to make it taste like dish soap.

I’ve taken enough safe handling to know

For Phil’s Birthday you can buy him a cooking class.

Just an idea.

My parents always rinse the meat off, too. We talked about it recently, as a matter of fact. I read that it doesn’t help anything. Only cooking it makes it safer to eat and kills the bacteria or whatever.

We rinse off chicken including the breast.
Probably including livers.

Rinsing off liver helps get rid of the livery taste and then soak them in milk. They taste alot better.

I’ve never rinsed off chicken once in my life. People do this? That’s so weird, but I guess they probably find me the weird one. This is just like when I found out some people peel potatoes and carrots!

you just don’t. You need to take classes.

You mean you don’t peel potatoes and carrots? Haha

But the peel is where all the nutrients are!

Yeah, for soups and on the rare case I cook them in a pot of water. Oh, and also if I’m making french fries.
Sounds pretty weird to me, but yeah, I guess I can understand, because potato and carrot peels aren’t too thick
Haha

How long does it take to peel a carrot or potato? And how many are you peeling per meal? It seems like such a waste of time to me, but maybe I’m just used to the peel taste so I don’t notice the difference.

for years i thought you were supposed to rinse meat because my family always did it but ive taken a culinary course and done alot of cooking over the past few years and i think all rinsing meat does is spread bacteria to the sink or whatever u rinse it and and make it harder to get a good sear and crust on the meat.
i find it weird that the same people i know that rinse meat dont even use food thermometers to check internal temperature when cooking which is alot more important

Washing raw poultry, beef, pork, lamb, or veal before cooking it is not recommended. Bacteria in raw meat and poultry juices can be spread to other foods, utensils, and surfaces. We call this cross-contamination.

A carrot I would say takes about 2-3 minutes TOPS. A potato shouldn’t fall that far from the tree, time wise

But I don’t normally eat these vegetables, so I couldn’t say how many I peel. My grandma makes the soups, about once a week

So if a dish calls for two potatoes and three carrots, you spend 10-15 minutes just peeling? Does it taste better to you?
